Chapter 18: Shanna vs Gladius

Viola, Luffy, and Shanna broke through the stones, and were now running down the path behind Pica. "Are you sure we can just leave him like that?!" Viola asked.

"Yeah, he's strong! Zoro will be fine!" Luffy replied with a confident laugh. They quickly found the staircase and started running up the stairs, arriving at the first floor of the royal palace. Loud explosion sounds reverberated ahead of them. They ran towards the direction of the explosions, and Shanna caught sight of the toy soldier. The soldier glided on the wheels attached to his single leg, running frantically away from a large man in black wearing a strange round shaped helmet. 

"I'm a burst man, I ate the Pamu Pamu fruit! I can blow myself up, and also the inorganic things I touch!" the man grabbed Soldier's head. His head started to inflate. 

"L-Let go!" Soldier cried. "I have....a mission!" His head grew bigger and bigger! It could explode any moment!

"You'll turn into dust!"

"YOU'LL TURN INTO DUST!" Suddenly the man holding onto Soldier felt a heavy blow in his gut. "THUNDER CANNON!" The man started flying backwards, spinning in the air three times before landing on the ground and sliding across the stone flooring. 

He coughed out a mouthful of blood before asking, "W-Who are you!?"

"UWOOOHH!" the toy soldier's head shrunk back to its original size, and he flew forward. A hand caught onto him before he could fall on the floor.

"Soldier! Where are Franky and the others? Weren't they with you?" Luffy, who caught the soldier, asked.

"You're-" the soldier gasped.

Viola shouted at Luffy, "There's no time to talk! Let's-"

"Straw Hat Luffy! Violet! How dare you!!" the man stood from the ground. 

"G-Gladius!" Viola gasped. 

Gladius's veins started popping all over his forehead. "You betrayed the young lord!" he shouted menacingly. 

"Luffy, take Viola and go!" Shanna shouted.

"Shanna! But you-" Luffy wanted to argue. She came to rescue Law. She should be the one to go up.

"The one who can save Law is you!" Shanna cut him off. Luffy gulped. Shanna crouched into a fighting stance in front of him, blocking the way between him and that man named Gladius. "I leave my captain to you."

"Okay," Luffy nodded. "Be careful!" 

Viola was quick to object. "But we can't leave her here alone!" she said.

Luffy, however, picked Viola up by the waist, and stormed out a nearby window with her. "Nishishi! Don't you worry! Shanna is strong!"

"How dare you! You think I'll let you get away?!" Gladius' head started to inflate. Shanna placed her hammer in front. Pamu Pamu Fruit, based on Soldier's head inflating before and what he said, she can immediately infer what will happen. "HELMET PUNK!" Gladius' head blasted open, sharp pieces of his metal helmet flying everywhere. Spinning the hammer in front of her, she was able to block the shards coming from directly in front, shielding a path for Luffy and Viola as well. 

Pieces of metal fell on the ground beside Shanna's feet. She stopped her hammer, and pointed the head downwards. Gladius clicked his tongue when he saw her unscathed. "You...who are you?" he asked.

"Vice captain of the Heart Pirates, Houston D. Shanna." 

"So you're part of that bastard Law's stupid little play pretend pirate crew..."
