***A/N: I know no one asked for this but I thought why not make a poem out of what I think Iroh would have said to his son when he died. Iroh was always very wise, but also sentimental in my opinion. Of course, all the credit goes to the creators. Enjoy.***
My son.
Words can never explain the feeling of losing you.
My heart has been ripped out of my chest, my soul shattered to pieces.
Eternal flames have engulfed my body only to be drenched in tears.
If only I could see you one last time.
If only I could hold you for a moment more.
My brave, brave little solider boy.
I cannot express how proud I am.
I can only wish that I had said it a little more,
As I watched you turn into a man.
Now only regrets seem to consume me as I think of you.
Of your eyes like your mother but your smile like mine.
Of all the memories we had together.
Of all the ways I failed you as a parent.
But all of my regrets cannot change what fate has decided.
May the wind carry you to eternal peace.
May the leaves of your life turn into beautiful vines that flourish in your memory.
I love you more than words can express.
My brave, brave little soldier boy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Leaves from the Vine
Falling so slow
Like fragile tiny shells
Drifting in the foam
Little soldier boy
Come marching home
Brave soldier boy
Comes marching home
***A/N: Are you crying yet? I literally felt tears forming in my eyes as I was writing this. If you have any suggestions for one shots, put them in the comments and I'll write it. Thanks!***
