It was a bright and sunny day at the Northern Water Tribe. A day like so many others you wouldn't have expected anything out of the ordinary to happen.
Much less for the whole week to consist of as much danger as one person could have experienced in their whole long life.
At least, that's what Yue thought.
But of course, the moon loved proving her wrong. It always did, for it had been doing that for the last 16 years of her life.
It all started out with a boat ride.
A casual boat ride, of course. One that she had done every day to escape all the stares and whispers, a ride where she could feel connected to her people and her element, without all the pressure of being a princess.
On this day, a boat ride was much needed, and much wanted.
Maybe that was why she didn't notice the gigantic sky bison floating down the river. Or the seemingly love-struck boy staring at her as she passed.
At that moment in time, she just wanted to forget everything and become one with the moon, one with water. So she slapped on a smile, sat up straight, and folded her hands just like she had been taught many years before, and got lost in thought.
Sadly, before she knew it, the boat had reached it's final turn in their journey, slowly coming to a stop outside the palace.
Begrudgingly Yue gingerly stepped out of the boat, taking the guards hand and following the translucent ice path up the steps to the looming ice palace overhead, a figure that had never ceased to amaze her.
She quietly glided through the palace hallways, hoping she could avoid her father and slip into her room.
Ever since she had become betrothed, her father had constantly nagged her, only finding pure peace in her quarters.
She thought she had made it today.
She was walking down the ice cold hallways, the shine from the ice walls blinding her, the arch that led to her room only a few paces away.
Just as her slippered feet past through the invisible wall, her father suddenly appeared behind her, his eyes wide in exhuberation.
"Yue!" Yue groaned inwardly, turning around and putting an innocent smile on her face.
"Yes father?" Yue's father gave a big smile, his face looking like a child who just got a piece of candy.
"Yue, you won't believe who's here!" Yue furrowed her brows in confusion.
"Who, father?" "The Avatar!" Yue's father threw his hands up, but Yue didn't notice that. Just like she hadn't noticed the big furry creature this morning.
"The Avatar?" Yue said to the ice wall, her whole world seeming to shift on it's perfectly set scale.
"Yes!"
Yue grabbed a piece of hair, wanting to escape to her quarters and contemplate this in silence, alone.
"Father, may I be excused?" Her father turned his head abruptly, waking from his daze. "Oh..um, yes, of course you can." Yue bowed her head. "Thank you father." she said as she turned to leave, her steps quicker.
