At the same time, I was enraged and frightened. I felt like I could knock down a wall with my bare hands, but I also wanted to curl up and disappear. When I got to the door, I ripped off my helmet in one swift motion.
Colton and Theo were out on the lawn training when they saw me pull up. When they both saw the gashes on my face and their demeanors shifted, Theo was about to say something. I noticed Colton's jaw clenching and Theo's hands flexing into fists.
Sailors bike came up behind me, and she looked over at me with a concerned expression on her face. Theo, on the other hand, was able to go check on her and make sure she was all right. I charged into the home, hurling my helmet at the garage door.
I dashed into the bathroom and got two big band-aids to cover the slashes on the left side of my face.
"What the fuck happened at the mall, Lydia? For two hours, you were gone. In two hours, what could happen?!" With a worried and angry expression on his forehead, Colton knocked the door open.
"While we were heading back to our house, something came up. Please leave me alone, it's not a big deal."
"Lydia it's obviously isn't nothing! You have wounds on your face." his voice getting louder
"Colton, get out of here! I'm perfectly fine! What part of "leave me alone" do you not grasp?" I began to become much more irritated than before. I was about to walk past him and out of the room when he grabbed my arm and attempted to stop me.
I grabbed both of his arms and tossed him against the wall, facing away from me, out of instinct and anger. I yanked his arms so tightly that he screamed.
"I said leave it Colton or so help me god I will rip both of your eyes out of your face," I said yelling now. I released his arms and waited for him to turn around.
"Just tell me how you got the cuts; I need to know you're okay." He said this, almost unfazed by my previous behavior. He took a step closer to me and gently rubbed his thumb against my cheek. It was so comforting and secure that I closed my eyes for a brief moment.
He was very close when I opened my eyes again, and I could feel his hot breath on my face. I gently pushed against his chest and backed away before something more could happen.
"Colton, it's part of my work. It is my responsibility to protect you, and if anyone threatens me or you, I will fight back. I need you to treat yourself as my client from now on; yes, I'll still be your "date" to prom, but this is purely business, okay?" I mumbled, wincing at my words and remembering what the man had said earlier about staying away from both boys.
I stood there watching as Colton's face morphed into one of incomprehension and anger. "Whatever I thought, you were in desperate need of someone to support you. If you keep pushing people away from you, Lydia, you'll be alone forever. I'm trying to convince you that I'm worth your time, but you're making it incredibly difficult "He says coldly, and this time the words hurt.
Hearing him say those words nearly broke my heart, but I gathered the strength to walk out and say one final thing.
"Please don't make it any more difficult than it has to be. I won't be worth your time in the end." With tears streaming down my face from the eventful day, I said looking at him before turning around and going to my bed.
Sorry for how short it is but I really wanted to upload something. I hope you still liked it :)
