After nearly two hours of riding, I decided to drive to the address where I will be staying for the next year. When I arrived, it was massive; I knew Colton was wealthy, but he was filthy wealthy. As I entered, I saw Sailor coming down the stairs.
"Where have you been, it's almost 10 o'clock, what if we're targeted," she says overly dramatically as she runs up to me.
"It's been two hours since we've started working. You would have been safe, I believe." I say this while scoffing but also smiling at her motherly nature.
As I walked past a large kitchen I said, "I went for a ride to clear my head, I'll tell you about it later ok." I took a glass of water and began to remove my mask when I heard footsteps approaching; I quickly replaced my mask and remained silent.
"Oh, you're back. You're not very good at this protecting business. You punch me first, then vanish five minutes into the job "In an irritated tone, I heard a praticular male voice say. I remained silent and continued to play with my switchblade.
"Why are you still wearing that stupid mask," he asks. I just get up without a word and try to walk away.
"Hey, don't take your eyes off me while I'm talking." He grabbed my arm, and it brought back memories of the day I left, except this time I was stronger. I turned his arm around this time, his arms now around his back. I shoved him as I walked away, sick of this guy's attempt to be some kind of all-powerful human. I've been her 2 minutes and hes already provoking me....unbelieveable.
I climbed the stairs and discovered a room with my belongings. I got ready for bed by unpacking everything and locking my door. For the first time today, I removed my mask and lay down in bed, emotionally preparing for the first day of school tomorrow. I knew that I would have to face reality and reveal who I really was the next day, and let me tell you, I wasn't prepared.
While I was overthinking my body became tired and I slowly started to drift away into my own mind and sleep took over my body.
____________________________________________________________________________________________"Lydia, get up, it's time for school." Through the door, I heard Sailor. I slowly awoke and prepared myself for classes. I curled my hair and applied light makeup; I decided to keep my true identity hidden for as long as possible, so I kept my mask on but let my blonde hair down. Since my hood and body were totally hidden yesterday, they couldn't see how I looked, so today was the first.
I was dressed in black skinny jeans and a large caramel brown crew-neck with the "GOLF" logo emblazoned across the front. I tucked my gun into the inside pocket of my jacket and a knife into the back pocket of my boot.
With that, I made my way down the stairs to the kitchen, where everyone was consuming their breakfast for the day. From my peripheral vision, I could see Colton's eyes on me as I walked in. They're just now getting a sense of what I looked like.
"You're still wearing that damn mask?" he asks annoyed. I just nodded my head and walked to the couch.
"Whatever you do, don't talk to me during school and we'll be fine," he says through clenched teeth, and I could hear his car engine start. I stood up and walked over to my motorcycle, quickly removing my mask and putting on my helmet.
"Let's roll losers," I said through my helmet and Colton just flips me off.
"So she does speak," he yells through the window and I just follow after him.
We arrived at school 5 minutes later, and it would be an understatement to say that all eyes were on me. All the kids who used to mock, tease, and injure me are now admiring and wanting to be like me. With the amount of positive attention I was receiving, it was as though I had invaded a different dimension.
I saw Colton, Sailor, and Theo exit his vehicle, and they were all staring at me, waiting for me to remove the mask. This, I suppose, was the moment we'd all been waiting for. For how dramatic people are right now to see who I am, I feel like there should be a drum roll and shit.
I slowly unbuckled the helmet and removed it. Colton and Theos' eyes opened when they heard gasps all around them. Sailor smiled at me, and I smiled again.
Is that Lydia. There's no way that's her. Lydia got hot. Damn shes looking good
All those compliments and surprised whispers could be heard in the school parking lot, but Colton's eyes and comments were the only ones I was paying attention to. I approached him and took a position in front of him.
"Hello, old friend," I said leaving him speechless and I just walked away triumphantly into the school swaying my hips in the process feeling powerful with all the stares on my back.
Colton's Pov
There is no way on God's green earth that the girl who just got off that motorcycle is Lydia Callhoun. No way, I'm not accepting the fact that Lydia Calhoun, the girl I used to bully, threaten, and harass, is now my bodyguard. I also refuse to acknowledge the fact that she is extremely attractive.
"Bro that was Lydia," Theo whispers to me like an idiot as we are stuck in place on the pavement of the parking lot.
"No shit sherlock, trust me I'm just as shocked as you," I said starting to walk towards school in a trance
Everyone was staring at me with puzzled expressions, as if they didn't understand why she had returned. They expected me to do something to her, or at the very least do something at all, but I couldn't comprehend why she was even here in the first place.
When I saw Lydia trailing me down the hall on her way to first period, I abruptly came to a halt and turned around to catch her shoulder.
"Why the hell are you following me," I said pinning her to a wall. She quickly released from my grasps and took my feet from under me.
"If you didn't know dipshit I'm stuck here as your bodyguard so I have to follow your sorry ass," she says lifting me off the floor
"Acting tough is a bad idea. Lydia e're all aware that you're just a miserable loser" I taunted her as if it were back in the day. She had wiped out her pocket knife and pinned me to the wall, I quickly realized leaving my high and mighty attitude.
"Unfortunately, what you don't realize is that YOU are the one who has brought me to this point. Because of you, I've been a heartless, cold murderer." She says this while tracing my jawline with a knife that isn't powerful enough to cut me unless enough pressure was added.
"Now, I didn't ask to be here, and I certainly didn't ask to be anywhere near you until I passed away, but here I am, Colton. You can either close your trap and let me save your ass, or you can try to save yourself and die in the process. It's all up to you." she sneers, snatching the knife from my cheek and shoving it into her pocket.
I was speechless because I didn't know what to say; she wasn't the Lydia I remembered from back in the day, but I wasn't going to let her act like she was all-powerful.
"Listen here princess," I said getting up from my place on the wall
"You might be a little stronger than the last time we met, but you will NEVER be my equal, you will FOREVER be a nothing, and don't forget that," I tried to threaten her, but she showed no signs of hurt or pain on her face.
"Wanna know why they call me Princess?" she asks walking up to me and I just roll my eyes.
"why?" I asked not caring at all
"It reminds me of you. So every time I kill somebody and slice a part of their body's I think of how you made me into who I am now," she says getting closer to my ear
"I slash a part of there body as a way of marking their death as mine," she whispers coldly into my ear and I am left speechless. Shes killed people? And she doesn't regret it?
Before I can think I feel a pain in my arm and I look down to see a long cut on my arm and her smiling up at me.
"If you disrespect me one more time, you'll be on the receiving end of my wrath. I don't care if I have to keep you safe; I'll never return to the way things were "She says it coldly and without emotion, then walks away without looking back. Thankfully, the period had only begun 10 minutes earlier, so no one had heard our conversation, but I was still taken aback by what had occurred.
