CHAPTER TEN

JESSICA

Last night was magical. I didn't get enough sleep because the whole night I was thinking about the time I spent with Ethan. The best thing was he didn't only drop me off but when he reached his place, he sent me a text saying that he enjoyed the night and thanked me too. He is such a sweetheart. His one simple text kept me awake the entire night.

Maybe as Amara said, I really was falling for Ethan and the strange thing was that, without knowing if he was there to catch me or not, I wanted to keep falling, I didn't want to control my feelings. For the first time in my life, I was being reckless. I was not someone who liked to take any risks especially when it came to something like love or commitment, but Ethan made me feel in a different way, it seemed like he was the risk which I was willing to take.

I was feeling very lazy to get up and go to school, I wanted to sleep more. Going to the party in a school week was a mistake, but a mistake which I didn't regret. Somehow, I managed to get off from my bed, got ready and went to school.

"Good morning Jess" Amara greeted me as soon as I entered the classroom.

"Good morning Amara" "I smiled "Hi Sarah and Noah, where is Jason?"

"Hi, Jess" both of them said in unison.

"Jason is not coming today, you know how lazy ass he is, he is probably sleeping in his bedroom as he slept late last night because of the party" Sarah replied to my question which I asked earlier, thank god she stopped acting weird and switched off her bitch mode.

"Seems like you didn't get enough sleep Jess" Amara teased me.

"How did you know that?" I said in a surprising tone.

"Your eyes are all puffy, it's not difficult to guess that" she laughed.

The school bell rang and Miss. Green entered the classroom.

"Good morning students, as we all know this semester I am going to give you lots of assignments so even if it's just the second day of school I am going to give you the first assignment" we all left a sigh of stress when she made this announcement "you are supposed to do this assignment in pairs, but I am the one who is going to make those pairs, yes I know we are in a high school and not in the primary but considering my last experience of letting you all make the pairs on you own, it didn't turn out pretty well so no one is going to come to me and request to change their partner." She started taking the names of the pairs.

"Erica Fernandes and Matt Lockwood

Amara Sandford and Shane Panton

Jessica Johnson and Ethan Williams" wait what? Did she just pair me with Ethan Williams? Unbelievable! I was literally dancing in my mind and at the same time, I was feeling really nervous! God this seemed unreal, I mean destiny really was in my favour. I looked in the direction where Ethan was seated and found that he was already looking at me with a smile on his face. I nodded and smiled.

"Someone's luck is as bright as the sun" Amara whispered

"Shut up, I can say the same" I tried to act normal but I was having butterflies in my stomach and trying my best to stop myself from blushing.

After all the lectures were done, I was searching for my journal in my locker just when someone tapped my shoulder.

"Hey Hazelnut" I turned back and suddenly lost my balance, I was about to bang on the floor but within a fraction of seconds Ethan grabbed my hand and back, he saved me. will he catch me like this if I fall in love with him as well? the breath caught in my throat with his sudden touch, I felt a shiver down my spine. I literally froze on my spot when his brown eyes locked with mine.

"Hey are you okay?" he asked with concern in his voice, helping me to stand properly.

I slightly went two steps back "y-yeah, I am fine, thanks" in a hesitant manner I replied, fixing my hair and dress. I was about to bent towards the floor to pick up the books which fell on the ground from my hands, just when Ethan did the same and we both ended up banging our heads to each other, rubbing our forehead we both laughed.

"It's ok I got it" he said, and I stood aside smiling at him.

"I was coming for you so that we can discuss the assignment" I said taking my books from his hands which he picked up. such a sweetheart he is.

"Oh, but I am the first one to come ha-ha" he winked. Geez, why was he so adorable? calm down Jessica "were you searching for something inside the locker? Do you need any help?"

"n-no, it's nothing, we can start doing the assignment from today, if it is ok with you, I mean the deadline is Friday, we still have four days in our hands but sooner the better" I said while putting my books inside the locker.

"You are just like what Shane told me about you" he half exclaimed.

"Sorry? What did Shane say about me?" I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.

"When Miss. Green took our names, the first thing he said to me was that how your assignments are always ready before the deadline, he said I am lucky that I am going to do my first assignment with you, and I don't have to worry about getting fewer marks in the assignment because you will make sure that it is perfect"

"Well he is not wrong" I winked "but that doesn't mean I am not going to give you anything to do, we both will contribute equally in this assignment"

"Yeah totally, we can start from today, I don't have any problem"

"Great, can you wait for me in the school library? There are some files in my laptop which might help us, but for that, I have to go home and bring the laptop here, so?" I suggested

"or..." he took a small pause "I can come to your place and we can do the assignment there, it will save our time, I mean only if you have no problem"

What? Ethan at my place? Is he serious? I hope he is joking, but it seems he is not.

"O-okay, no problem, we can do that" I replied as I tried to look normal even though the idea of Ethan in my house was making me anxious as hell.

"Great, let's go" he grinned "we will go by my bike"

My mood just got much better, ride on Ethan's bike for the second time! It was something I could only imagine but now it was actually happening. The smallest things related to this guy were enough to make me feel good and happy. My feelings for him were getting stronger with each passing day, and even if I wanted to avoid them, I couldn't. How can I avoid this guy when the universe itself was bringing us together? the universe was giving me all the signs that we both were meant to be together.
