CHAPTER THIRTEEN

JESSICA

I was feeling exhausted, mentally exhausted as if my all energy has drained. I really hated it whenever I got into a fight with people who were close to me. Even when I reached home, I was only thinking about that argument I had with Noah and Sarah earlier. It really was very disturbing because it was ruining the atmosphere of our whole group, because of me even Amara and Jason were dragged into that argument without any reason.

No matter how much I convinced myself that it was not my fault, I was feeling guilty. I was in the middle of thinking how my day went in the school just when I suddenly remembered that I was supposed to contact Mason about clean-up campaign, that really slipped from my mind. Thank god I didn't forget to note down his contact number before leaving the classroom. I quickly grabbed my phone and sent him a text.

Hey mason, Jessica Johnson here,
I want to register my name as a volunteer for the clean-up campaign.

Oh yeah, hi Jessica, I will add your name in the registration list.

Wow! He was quick, I didn't expect such a fast reply.

Thanks!

You are welcome, also we have a meeting tomorrow after school to explain everything to the volunteers.

I will surely come.

Yeah, see you tomorrow Jessica.

Yeah, bye Mason.

Bye!

I decided to scroll my SNS feed for a while just when my phone rang, It was Ethan, why was he calling me? he never called me before, damn I was going to talk with him on the call for the first time! As usual, I was nervous as hell. It was so easy for him to make me feel weak in the knees. Calm down Jessica and don't end up making fool of yourself. I took a deep breath and picked up the call.

"Hey Hazelnut, Ethan here" his voice was so fresh it made me forget my worries.

"Yeah, Hi Ethan, is everything ok?" I asked trying to sound normal but only I knew how fast my heartbeats were running "Why did you call?"

"Do I need a reason to call my new friend?" new friend! my heartbeat skipped for a second when I heard his reply, it was unexpected.

"N-no, I didn't mean that I mean it's not like that" I didn't know what to say.

"Haha, relax" I could hear his faint laugh "I called you to ask if we can meet tomorrow, to discuss the assignment, I am almost done reading that book."

"Woah! Already? Didn't you start reading it like yesterday?" I exclaimed.

"Yeah yeah, but I also like to keep my assignments ready before the deadline and that book is quite interesting too, so I read it as fast as I could, I will finish it by tonight."

"Wow, that is impressive, I am glad that Miss. Green assigned me with such a responsible partner" I joked "We can meet during lunchtime tomorrow if it is ok with you."

"Why not after school?" he asked.

"You forgot about that clean-up campaign, didn't you?" I shook my head.
