I followed Mason and Hazelnut, we were far away from the party and there was no sound of loud music at all, the only sound we could hear was of the leaves which were moving with the touch of cool breeze and the chirping of crickets. I hid behind the tree when they stopped, making sure that they couldn't see me, there was not much of distance between us so I was able to hear their conversation.

"Can you tell me at least now what brings us here? What is it that you wanted to tell me?" Hazelnut asked calmly.

"Y-yeah, actually..." he stuttered while rubbing the back of his neck "promise me you will not get mad or upset" what the hell he is going to tell her.

"Ok, I promise, now tell me already!" Hazelnut replied. damn, she is so gorgeous.

"Umm, well, see I know it's only been a few days since we met and I don't know if you even consider me as your friend, but there is something special about you which I am not able to avoid. Since the first day I saw you in the classroom, I just can't stop thinking about you, I like you Jessica and I really want to get to know you better, I know it's too soon, I should have waited but I am sorry I don't know why but I can't control myself" he said without stopping even for a single second what the fuck, did he just ask her out god damn it, how dare he! I looked at Hazelnut and her eyes were widened in the shock; she didn't say anything for a while.

"I - I don't know what to say Mason, I didn't see that coming" she replied after some time "I respect your feelings and I like you as a person but I never looked at you in that way and I don't think I ever will, I am really sorry."

"But you can try, right? You can at least consider giving us a chance, I mean let's try and get to know about each other by hanging out together for some time" he said in desperation. This boy is really desperate, doesn't he understand that she is not interested, leave her alone you asshole!

"No Mason! please try to understand, you just can't force someone to like you or to be with you, there must be mutual feelings in any relationship" Hazelnut said calmly. How can she manage to stay so calm even when someone is being so annoying, I can't blame Mason for asking her out because Hazelnut indeed is a girl anyone will fall for, including me. But then she said something about having mutual feelings, what if she rejects me just like mason? what if she sees me only as her friend and nothing more? Think positive Ethan! you will definitely get your girl.

"But Jessica-" Mason was about to say something but he was really being annoying even when Hazelnut was being so nice to him so I decided to interrupt because as far as I knew Hazelnut she just couldn't be too rude to him and might have ended up wasting her all night trying to make this dumbass understand that she really is not interested in him.

"Hey Hazelnut! You are here, I have been looking for you." I said as jogged towards where they both were standing "Amara needs you; she is very drunk."

"Oh god, why does this girl drinks so much even though she knows that she can't handle it!" Hazelnut half exclaimed "Mason, I need to go, sorry, bye, good night!"

"Relax, everything is fine" I said when Mason was out our sight "actually I lied about Amara, she is not drunk instead she must be busy in cuddling with her boyfriend"

"You lied? But why?" Hazelnut exclaimed and stopped walking while facing me.

"Well, it was not like I was eavesdropping, I was just passing by and heard your conversation with Mason. He was being really annoying so I thought I should just-"
