Over the next 7 years, the school has flourished. Many of the first teachers left, but we have gained many more. Mutants from all over coming to learn and eventually teacher make their way into society. Charles and I have been the best we ever had. We've been dating for a while now, and I'm waiting on a proposal but I'd never let him read my mind for that information. Most days have been normal, full of training, and luckily no imminent threat has arrived since those premonitions. Things have stayed quiet, until today.

I walk through the hallways towards my lunch break with Hank. We've become best friends of a sort. Obviously he's like Charles's pet, but he is less scared of me I'd say, so we are very casual. We walk through the main entrance to the the door open, revealing.

"Alex Summers?" Hank asks happily.

"Alex!" I smile and go hug him.

"Hank McCoy! Whoa. What happen to the big blue... furry you? And Y/n, looking as lovely as ever." He flirts like he did when he was a child.

"Alex the charmer." I joke.

"I, keep it under control now." Hank responds.

"This is my brother, Scott." He says finally introducing the boy with bandages over his eyes.

"Hey, Scott. I'm Hank McCoy. I'm one of the teachers here." Hank says and Scott nods a little.

"Hi Scott, I'm Y/n, another professor here." I smile at him even though he can't see it.

"Where's the Professor?" Alex asks us.

"He's teaching, let's go get him." I smile as everyone follows me down a hallway towards one of the classrooms.

"So you and the professor?" Alex asks knowingly. "I assume Erik fell out of the race."

"Alex...I'm not answering that." I roll my eyes and he throws his hands up in defense. We approach the classroom we hear Charles teaching.

"...to break forth bloodily, then the past must be obliterated and a new start made. Let us now start fresh without remembrance, rather than live forward and backward at the same time. Now, what are the aggrieve things that the author meant when he wrote all that? He..." Charles looks. out and sees us, so he stops teaching. "That's going to be your assignment for tomorrow. Top marks, everyone. Class dismiss." He commands and walks towards us. "Alex, it's good to see you." He shakes his hand

"Yeah, you too." Alex smiles back.

"You look... well. It's been a while." Charles acknowledges the almost 20 years that have passed.

"It has. You're not too bad yourself. You're walking?" He suddenly notices and is confused.

"Thank you. And walking thanks to this brilliant girl." He points at me and I blush.

"This is my brother, Scott." Alex introduces him again.

"Hello, Scott. Welcome to the school for the gifted." Charles tells him.

"Yeah. It doesn't exactly feel like a gift." Scott pities himself.

"It never does, not at first." Charles responds. "Let's take a walk." He suggests so we follow him outside towards the open fields with trees. "The first step in understanding one's power is learning the extent of it. Only then, can we begin the process of teaching you how to control it. If you do decide to stay, I can promise you that by the time you are done here you'll be able to go back into the world and play a stable productive partner. Why don't you take your bandages off and we can have a look at what we're dealing with here. Alex, would you line him up. Face him in the right direction if you will. There's a target just across the water. When you open your eyes, try and hit that." Charles explains but doesn't move. Charles turns to me and gives mea 'help me' look.

"You can open your eyes, Scott." I say and he slowly begins to open them as I manipulate his brain to trust us. Charles thinks he figured out I have a slight power of swaying people, a slight manipulation without trying.

"There's nothing to be afraid of. It's quite..." Charles begins as Scott opens his eyes, a red laser force shines out of his eyes, across the water and up the giant oak tree. I assume this is the same energy that Alex has. The kids start running in all different directions but. Jean stays put, observing the boy. Oh gosh, I know what's coming next. "Whoa! My grandfather planted that tree when he was 5 years old. I used to swing from the branches then myself. I think that was probably my favorite tree." Charles laughs a bit but then the tree breaks completely in half.

"Does that mean I'm expelled?" Scott asks nervously.

"On the contrary. You're enrolled." Charles smiles. Hank takes the boys back to the mansion as Charles and I walk over to the tree.

"It's alright Charles, I'll fix it." I laugh, the shooting out some purple energy, and moving my hands to put the tree back together. There is a line down the middle that will stay there, bonding it. My purple energy, a small line of shimmering lavender connects the tree like magic. "There, all better." I smile and I turn to see Charles looking at me with amazement. "What?" I laugh.

"You amaze me more and more every day." He smiles. "D-Do you remember this tree?" He asks me.

"Of course I do Charles. You taught me how to control my powers here. We confessed our feelings for each other, then we also had our first kiss." I smile at the memories.

"Wonderful memories they are." He smiles then leans in to kiss me.

"Charles this is inappropriate for the children!" I scold and he stops. "They already know we are dating but seeing us kiss would probably scar them for life." I laugh then turn to the tree. I place one of the leaves in my hand then make it float around me. What I don't see is behind me, Charles is getting down on one knee, ready to propose. He clears his throat and I begin to turn around, but a powerful earthquake erupts beneath us. I fall to the ground but soon figure out this is no normal earthquake. I pass out and go into a nightmare of destruction and chaos. Like a dark force is surrounding me and wants me to turn.

'I am become death, destroyer of worlds.' Echoes through my brain.

'Who are you?' I ask aggressively.

'Apocalypse' It responds.

'Get out of my head!' I shout at the darkness.

'Oh no, I'm in here forever.' The voice haunts. 'Be my horseman. Let. Me. In.' The voice echoes but I focus on blocking it out. I wake up in my bed to see Charles holding my hand.

"Wh-What happened?" I ask Charles. "There was an earthquake and you passed out. Near the tree. Jean said she felt something inside you when it happened." He responds.

"That voice again Charles, the world burning. He called himself Apoc-Apocalypse." I get out. "Charles someone is here now. He wants to destroy the world." I gulp as Hank runs inside.

"It's Jean, another nightmare." He explains and Charles jumps up and runs to her as Hank stays with me.

"Hank, find out where the earthquake was. Please." I say then fall into a nap. My brain is so tired from fighting off that force, that I pass out in the bed.
