"Ahh, how I've missed this place," Thor smiled as he took in the familiar surroundings of the command room.
The room was fairly large, and a long table sat at its center. Many chairs lined each side, one for each Avenger. There was a large screen positioned on the side wall, which was used for all forms of media display. Surrounding the room was a vast amount of concealable windows, so that the Avengers may see out but so outsiders could not see in. It revealed a breathtaking view of the city.
"It's been a while hasn't it?" Tony traced a finger along one side of the table. "We spent all of our time on the front lines during the war." He looked out one of the windows. "We are truly blessed to be standing here today."
Loki looked down as he tapped his foot against the tile floor. For once, he was oddly quiet.
"Loki and I were lucky to escape from our ship when we did, although I can't say the same for our people." A solemn look glazed Thor's eyes as he leaned against the wall.
"While the war brought much loss across the universe, there is much room for rebuilding and growth," Tony began passionately. "We can bring back hope, and it begins here. This brings me to our point of discussion for today." He approached the command table. "Gentlemen, please take a seat." He motioned with his hand for Thor and Loki to take a seat.
-
"Loki, I'd like to formally welcome you to the Avengers headquarters. I look forward to working with you moving forward," Tony proclaimed.
"I appreciate the warm welcome, but I'll have you know that I'll be doing whatever's best for me." Loki leaned back in the chair.
"And I'll have you know that I'm not surprised to hear that. However, my words remain valid." Tony glanced at Thor.
Thor shrugged. "You'll get used to him pretty quickly. He's always been like this, but I'm sure he'll open up sometime."
Loki cleared his throat. "May we proceed with the meeting?"
"Of course," Tony replied. "I'm here to discuss our current priority- rebuilding the city. No, we aren't going to become construction workers. We are to assist the people however we can with getting society back to routine normalcy."
"How are we to do this?" Thor questioned.
"We are to handle any criminal activity in the city. This, is step one."
"What about step two?" Loki pressed, his eyes narrowed.
"It will be determined by the results of step one," Tony answered plainly.
"Fair enough."
"However before we can accept any local requests or begin any investigations, I must get a reading from each of your physical performances."
"Why is that?" Thor asked, angling his head to one side. "We've fought together many times before."
"If we are to optimize our skills in combat, it will work in our favor to understand our strengths and weaknesses," Tony explained.
"If you intend to find a weakness of mine, you'll discover I have none," Loki said, waving his hand dismissively. "I also refuse to participate in your physical performance exam."
"This is a part of the deal, you know," Tony said raising an eyebrow. "You already plan to go back on your word?"
"I..." Loki fumbled then sighed. "Fine..."
"That's what I like to hear," Tony said with a flashy, white smile. "Now the plan is to conduct the exam immediately after we end this meeting, understood?" Tony looked to Thor and Loki.
Thor nodded. "I agree that this is indeed the best course of action."
Thor and Tony turned towards Loki.
Loki folded his arms. "You already know my answer."
"Perfect. If there is no further discussion to be had, please follow me to the training room." Tony rose from his seat.
Thor stood from his seat and Loki shrugged.
"What have I gotten myself into?" Loki sighed.
"An experience that will be quite worthwhile. Now come on, let's go." He dragged Loki by the arm.
"I assure you I can carry myself to our destination," Loki said with frustration.
"Yeah but you're too slow, let's go."
Loki sighed again as he was dragged along by Thor's iron grip.
