i'm sorry this took so long to get out,, i took a bit of a break😅
You sat up, finally pushing the off button on your alarm clock. You'd been pressing snooze all morning and finally decided it was time to get up. The alarm had been set a week before, since you'd planned your activities with him for the next few days. However, after the events of yesterday evening, you weren't in the right headspace to see him.
There was a knock at your bedroom door. You turned your head, knowing it would be your twin brother, and called out for him to come in.
"Y/n? I think we should do something today, to get your mind off of him."
You were thankful and that Kiba didn't say his name, and you were also grateful he was there for you.
"Yeah, of course. Give me half an hour to get dressed."
He smiled at that, slipping back into the hallway and downstairs.
Hearing the click of the door closing, you rose to your feet and grabbed your towel, heading to the bathroom.
You peeled off your pyjamas, and turned on the shower. You didn't know why, but the room felt strangely quiet, even with the water running. You hated it, it made you feel empty, and it brought back your memories of last night.
Climbing into the shower, you bit your lip, holding back tears. Your best friend had rejected you. If you could even call it that. He just stared at you like you were crazy until you ran off. Maybe you shouldn't've done that. Maybe you should've stayed to listen to him. Maybe things would be better if you had.
When you'd finished getting ready and eaten the breakfast Kiba had prepared for you, you set out, planning on going to the park for the picnic you would've had with him.
You were quiet for most of the walk, and your twin was okay with that. He understood you didn't feel like yourself at the moment, and he was willing to wait until you were better to hold long conversations with you.
Lying flat on the picnic blanket, you blocked the sun from your eyes and sighed. You could've done this with him, if you hadn't been so stupid yesterday. If you didn't say all those stupid things.
Kiba dug into the food you brought with you, filling the silence with random conversation, while you listened, humming occasionally. Grateful for his presence, you found yourself smiling a little, glad you had him in your life. No matter what, your brother would always be there for you, ready to cheer you up.
When the food was finished, Kiba lay beside you, finally quietening down. You relaxed in comfortable silence, closing your eyes and breathing slowly.
"Y/n?"
You recognised that voice, it belonged to him. Why was he here? Didn't he understand you didn't want to see him? Or was he just toying with your feelings?
"Y/n, I know you hear me. I want to talk about yesterday."
You kept your eyes firmly shut, hoping that if you ignored him long enough he would leave you alone. Of course, things didn't go the way you'd hoped.
"Kiba, can you give us some privacy? I really want to talk to her alone."
"No way."
You had to hold back a giggle. Kiba's adamant refusal to leave you with the guy who'd broken your heart just the night before was fairly humorous, considering it would embarrass him.
"Please. I just need to explain myself. I can't let her go like this."
"I don't care. If you want to talk, then talk. I'm not going anywhere."
He sighed, sitting beside you on the grass. He noticed you'd shifted to make sure there was no room in the blanket and his mood dampened a little more. Taking a deep breath, he begun.
"Y/n, I'm sorry about what happened yesterday. I'm so so sorry."
Kiba rolled his eyes at the short apology, suppressing a giggle at his stupidity. Did he really think he'd get you back with that shit? Idiot.
You stayed motionless however, but your thoughts were going the same way as your brother's. You knew he was good with words, so why wasn't he trying harder. He obviously didn't care.
He glanced over at the chuckling boy, some of his courage chipping away, but was still determined to apologise.
"I didn't mean to hurt you. I-I was overwhelmed; girls like you aren't supposed to get with guys like me. That's not how it works. But I really like you, Y/n. I like you a lot. Please give me another chance, I promise I'll never make you feel this way again."
He cursed himself for stuttering, and for the red colour blossoming on his cheeks, but he bit the inside of his lip, hoping you'd understand where he was coming from.
You did, thankfully, and sat up beside him. He was extremely grateful, so grateful he threw his arms around you. Rather angrily, you pushed him back, a deep frown pulling on your lips.
"What the hell? You didn't even give me a chance to speak before jumping on me!"
He recoiled, blinking back a few tears. You felt bad now, you really did, but you couldn't stand the way he reacted to you just moving.
"Don't. Not yet. I still like you, of course I do, and I forgive you, but give me a bit of space. You really hurt me yesterday."
"I understand. I'll leave you alone for the day. But before I do, can I kiss you? Please?"
Your heart melted at his request, and your lips pulled up into a smile. Nodding swiftly, you leaned into him, planting your lips against his.
He kissed back, pouring his love for you into it, and gripped your shoulders. The kiss didn't last too long, mostly because you remembered the presence of Kiba, and you pulled him into a warm hug.
"I love you, Y/n."
"I love you too, Gaara."
