"I mean, it's fine. We can stay out here for however long you need. It's not like I'm freezing or anything," I winced, trying my damnedest not to shiver.

Oliver finally turned to me, as if now remembering that I was here, having been pacing a hole into the floor in front of me.

He took a deep breath and as usual, the sudden eye contact threw me.

Ever since I saw him earlier, looking the best I'd ever seen him, keeping my eyes from wandering was a challenge.

I never thought I'd see Oliver wearing all black and because of that, I was ill-prepared for all it would bring. Managing to string a few words together was miraculous in itself, let alone the ability to crack a few jokes.

There wasn't much to his outfit: a black turtleneck, blazer and a pair of trousers. But Oliver took those three, simple articles of clothing and transformed them into so much more.

He looked chic, posh and considering the occasion, ready for war.

The Lori/Khalid debacle spiralled a bit in the last few days.

Lorelei is adamant about making things work whereas Oliver is adamant about, well... not saying a word. I would suffice with Oliver saying a word to Khalid if I were her.

Tonight's dinner was Lorelei's third attempt at a meeting (reintroduction?) in the last two weeks after she first dropped the bomb.

Fourth times a charm, I hope...

"Do we have to be here?" Oliver huffed as he moved to stand in front of me, fiddling with the collar on my cream coat.

I smiled sadly, knowing this was the last thing Oliver wanted to do.

But Lorelei wasn't giving up, and as much as she thinks she's being gracious with her news, I disagreed.

Trying to introduce your boyfriend to your emotional recluse of a son four times in two weeks isn't smart. Let's not even get into the existing relationship between said boyfriend and son.
