Chapter 56

Conversations and Explosions

Ava watches (Y/n) slowly stand up, her eyes flashing red. Ava points down at Miles's back where his demon mark was. A long, thin icicle forms in her tan hand. (Y/n)'s eyes turn back to their normal color when she processes the danger Miles is in.

Everything stills. The sound of the Armor Titan digging its digits into the wall was the only thing they could hear. Erwin stood silently watching what the girl was going to do. Caleb held back from running to save his boyfriend.

Ava's green eyes stare at her, waiting for her to do something, but (Y/n) stays silent. Being the reasonable person, she is, Ava pushes the icicle into Miles' back, slightly above his mark and he lets out a pain-filled scream.

(Y/n) continues to stay silent, but Caleb runs up to her. He grabs onto her arm, "Say something! Do something! Before she kills him! Please!"

She doesn't give him a response instead she keeps still, "Okay, we can talk."

The icicle melts in one swift movement and Ava walks towards the edge of the wall, "Follow me."

(Y/n) steps forward, but a hand grabs onto her other arm. She turns to look behind her. Levi stood there with a nervous glint in his eyes. He was secretly begging her to stay with him, but he knew she had to go speak with Ava, "Be careful."

"I will," she smiles while pulling away from him to follow Ava down the wall. She didn't have to ask him to stay safe or to stay alive because she was confident, he would be there when she returned.

Caleb quickly runs towards Miles. He zips down the suit to reveal the bloody gash above his mark, but his tan skin was already healing. Caleb zips up the suit and turns over his boyfriend away from the edge of the wall.

"Are you okay?" Caleb asks worriedly.

Miles grunts in response and sits up, his mind spinning. Ava had whacked him hard on the head when he got distracted. He looks over to Alice's body that was laying on the stone with a puddle of blood staining her clothes and skin.

He gets up with the help of Caleb and walks over to where her body is. He crouches down to check on her body. He pushes the hair that had fallen in her face back before letting it fall, "She's dead, but we have other things to worry about right now, like that fatass monkey. Commander Eyebrows, what do you suggest we do?"

Erwin looks down at the crouched blonde, "Can you protect the horses from the titans?"

"Sure," Miles agrees easily at the surprise of his boyfriend. Miles wasn't the type to simply comply.

Caleb stops him from going down the wall, "You're still hurt and you're the only one who can keep (Y/n) safe."

"I'm fine and don't worry about your sister. I wasn't prepared to fight Ava, but she is," Miles reassures him and gives him a quick peck on the cheek, "I'll see you soon, don't die on me."

"No promises" Caleb whispers and Miles frowns. He runs towards the wall and jumps off the edge as everyone else watches.

Erwin turns towards the others to give out orders, "We all have to put what happened behind us. We need our heads to be clear. Forget about (Y/n) helping us, she's keeping a powerful enemy away from us, that's enough for us to focus on the actual threat."

"Now, Squad Levi, Squad Hanji, and Squad Caleb will take on the Armored Titan. Use the thunder spears if necessary. Everyone else will fight off the smaller titans to help Miles protect the horses," Erwin commands and everyone leaves to do their part, "Armin, Levi, stay."
