Chapter 57

Colossal Problems

"Miss Me?" Alice smugly smirks at them. (Y/n) raises her fist and punches the large circle wound on Alice's back making her cough out blood. 

"(Y/n)!" Caleb scolds his sister while trying to grab onto her before she does it again.

Alice kneels down on the roof in pain. (Y/n) raises her fist to strike down on the wound again, but this time her fist opens and her palm comes into contact with Alice's back. A warm, white light emits under her palm as the bloody gash begins to heal.

"You're an idiot," (Y/n) whispers towards Alice causing her to let out a laugh. 

Everyone was confused about how Alice was alive, but they kept their questions to themselves as debris flies in the air. (Y/n)'s eyebrows furrow. She was deep in thought about how to handle the situation. She knew that Bertholdt needed to be stopped, but that was a big problem by itself.

There was also the problem of the Beast Titan. She wasn't sure what the situation on the other side of the wall was. However, she could tell it wasn't good. Once the white light diminishes, Alice stands up from the ground and grabs onto her arm to pull her away from the rest to speak.

They stand away from everyone and Alice leans in to whisper in her ear, "Erwin is in big trouble. The Beast Titan has killed everyone who is capable of killing titans except for Levi and Miles is running out of power. Soon the situation over there will become hopeless."

A sigh escapes her lips, "So both sides are losing. I can't leave here to go help them because my powers would also plummet like Miles's powers. You also can't stay here all alone without me since you're still injured."

"And I need to turn back to my cat form soon. The curse your father places on me only allows me to be human for so long and exceeding that time will surely kill me," Alice explains, "What are you going to do?"

(Y/n) closes her eyes to shut out the noise. An image of a body sitting against a large rock with their torso ripped open pops in her head. She clicks her tongue and opens her eyes. She looks to her side to glance over everyone left.

She had two options. Leave everyone here and go help Erwin or stay and hope for the best. Her eyes widen when she meets the gaze of her brother. He already knew what she was thinking. His hands tighten into fists, I am not going to become a burden for her.

"Everyone from my squad," Caleb states while he turns around to face the faces of his squad members, "We will leave the Colossal Titan to  Squad Levi. We will make our way to Commander Erwin and provide backup."

He turns back around to face his sister. Her expression was perplexed and her eyes reflected the whorl of emotions she felt. Confusion, worry, unease all mixed together. His lips slide into a soft smile, one he would always give her as a child whenever she got hurt.

"(Y/n)," he says, the smile never faltering, "We'll meet again, right?"

Her throat clenches from the panic flooding her veins. Adonis had assured her he wouldn't touch her brother so his death was not probable. However, she couldn't smell death. All she could feel was a twisted feeling in her gut. It was the same way she felt the night he walked out of the apartment when the brothel was burned down.

Sweat drips down her chin and a smile forms on her face. If this was the last time she saw him, then she wanted to see him off with a smile, "Yeah, we'll meet again. Good luck."

"Good luck to you too and everyone," Caleb nods his head and jumps off the roof with his squad behind him. Harry turns his head back to witness the single tear slip down her face.
