+++ GUESS WHO'S BACK. Would it be too much to ask for a vote and comment?? :3  I haven't written in months so I'm super rusty. +++

"Green light..."

"Are you sure?" I asked, unmoving.

Todd, a couple dozen feet down the long hallway, gave a complacent look and repeated, "Green. Light."

I sighed, trusting him and began closing the gap between us. He watched me, waiting patiently for my timid stride to reach him.

"He's probably not even home right now." Todd complained with a motion to "hurry up".

"You promised you'd help me without griping." I reminded him about our pact.

"Yes, but..." Just as I reached him, he twisted his torso, peaking around the corner and gasped, "Red light!"

I froze and threw myself against the wall as if it would make me invisible. I looked at Todd, panicked, hoping he would tell me what to do.

"Is he coming this way?" I whispered.

He responded with a grin. He cried wolf to toy with me...again.

"Are you trying to give me a heart attack?"

"Kendal, you can't avoid Julian forever."

"But you can help me!" I repeated the same argument I'd used to sway him to help me patrol the halls for signs of Julian.

"Yeah, this whole stop light game has been real fun," He rested a hand over my shoulder. "But I can't follow you around every day. And it's starting to get weird. You're going to have to figure out a way to get over this...or just, I don't know, forget about him? Maybe consider all these other eligible bachelors throwing themselves at your feet?"

He wiggled his brows and I couldn't stop the laugh it evoked.

"You're right." I agreed.

"Of course I'm right..." He puffed out his chest and straightened his collar.

"You won't be able to help me every day...I'll have to make Madison and Warren scout for me." I said, rubbing at my chin.

"Kendal, I'm being serious. You have to work this out or nothing will ever get better."

He flicked his thumb over my cheek and offered a small smile. He's so good to me. He took the blame for the ruckus that the red haired moron had started and has been helping me avoid Julian at all costs ever since. He always made his fondness of me clear but always held back just enough to give me the space that I greatly needed.

"I owe you big time, Todd." I relented feeling guilty.

"You do." He agreed. "I take cash, credit...kisses." He nudge my shoulder in jest.

"Okay then." I crained up to plant a quick kiss on his cheek. The dark curls that hovered just above his ears tickled my nose and the tiny stubble he usually shaved scratched at my lips leaving me with goose bumps. "Now I'm no longer indebted to you."

"I - you..." He rubbed his cheek, caught off guard. "Now wait a minute, I've saved your life at least once. And how long have I been playing guard dog for you? Three days? Pay up."

"Hah, don't push your luck." I resisted his attempts and tried not to look at his freckled nose which was just begging to be smooched.

"Can we please get to the kitchen now? I'm still hungry."

"You're not changing the subject, Kendal." He protested.

"Just did." I started forward. "Let's go."
