A peaceful, normal life.

All I want, is a normal life.

With that thought, I stepped off the skyscraper.

There's something peaceful about falling. Not falling to your death, just falling.

Letting go.

Not worrying about anything.

Just falling and feeling the wind on your skin. If I could, I'd fall forever. Then again, maybe that's just me. "I wonder if other people enjoy falling," I thought aloud. I closed my eyes and started to wonder about the different things people do in their free time.

Soon enough, my thoughts were interrupted by some screams. I knew it was coming, someone always screams. I opened my eyes to see a small crowd forming and watching me fall. I was getting close to the ground and more people were gathering, so I thought it would be a good time to save myself. And with that thought, big white wings suddenly appeared from my back, flapping slowly trying to slow my fall. Eventually, I got close enough to the ground to hear people talking about me.

"Hey that's that girl! The one people are calling 'The Metal Guardian'!"

"Oh I heard of her, she saved a lot of people from that apartment fire a few days back!"

"She looks like an angel!"

I didn't bother landing on the ground in front of everyone, they'd all just swarm me with personal questions and I'm not exactly good with crowds. Instead I stopped midair and started flying up again. There wasn't much to do other than patrol the city, so that's what I did.

Ever since I graduated from UA, I've gotten so many offers from other agencies asking me to join them. I don't see the point in joining an agency, mainly because of the unwanted attention I'll get from everyone on the streets and other heroes.

I don't work well with other people either. I get asked why I wanted to become a hero in the first place if I don't like to talk to people. The short answer is because I don't want what happened to my parents happen to others. But it's much more complicated than that.

"I think I'm done patrolling for today," I said aloud with a sigh. I'll stop by the convenience store and get something to eat first though. Then maybe I'll find a tall building or bridge to sit on while I eat.

After getting a sandwich, I walked out of the store and saw a huge bird-like shadow across the sidewalk. I heard girls fangirling from all directions. Everyone looked up and watched in amazement as the number 2 hero soared above them.

Hawks. I guess he's also patrolling near here.

After searching for a spot to sit down and eat, I finally decided to sit at the top of a big red suspension bridge. It was getting dark and the city started to light up so it was a calming view.

Although nothing about the city at night is calm, it's always hectic and crowded. Two things I despise. I started eating my sandwich while watching the crowds of people and clusters of cars. I closed my eyes and just listened to the city.

Even though I was so high up, I could still hear street vendors and cars honking. I wonder what it's like to live a normal civilian life. I started daydreaming when suddenly-.

Woosh

"Hey Kid, what are you doing up here? It's dangerous, how di- HEY KID!"

I was so startled that I fell off the bridge halfway through his sentence. Before I even realized what was happening I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist tightly, bringing me back to reality.

"What'd you do that for?" I look up to see the number 2 hero staring back at me. "Wha- I- You-" I stammered, still shocked by what had just happened.

I tried forcing his arms off me so I could fly on my own, but he wouldn't budge. "What are you doing? Do you want to fall?" he asked, looking at me with concern.

"Let me go. I can fly on my own," I replied, looking back at him. He looked at me shocked but he was also curious, so he let go.

With no warning.

I started falling fast, but I managed to calm myself down. I could see him out of the corner of my eye hovering nearby, making sure I wouldn't hit anything.

"You sure you can fly on your own?" He shouted. I looked back to see he had a smirk on his face. I scoffed and took a deep breath in. Suddenly, big white wings appeared and started flapping and I eventually started hovering.

I landed on top of a building still trying to process what just happened, not caring about where Hawks was right now. A few seconds later, I heard another woosh and looked up.

Hawks was staring at me in awe. The slightest tint of pink covering his cheeks as he admired my wings. "You could've said something before landing you know." I finally said, looking back at him.

"Uh- I- I'm sorry, I just...", he trailed off, still staring at me. "Aw man," I said with realization, "I dropped my sandwich up there!" I pouted.

I heard a chuckle from behind me and I whipped around, grabbing him by his jacket. "You made me drop my sandwich," I said, glaring at him. "Woah. Woah. Calm down Angel, I'll buy you a new one," he said with his hands up. Angel?

He gave an apologetic smile with his eyes closed. I could tell he felt bad so I sighed and said, "It doesn't matter anymore. I'll be going now."

"Hey wait!" he started, but before he could finish, I had already flown away.
