"Hello Rae. Please take a seat." I sat across from an older woman in a lab coat. She held out her hand.

"My name is Ava Paige. Do you have any idea on why you are here."

"Um, I heard someone say something about me being special?" my voice was high, so I am probably younger.

"That is right Rae. You are very, very special. We don't know how so quite yet, but we do know there is something that truly sets you apart from the other kids. Something that could help save us all. Rae, do you know what we are doing here? Why we have so many children here?"

"My mom told me you were keeping us safe from getting sick."

"The thing is Rae, you have always been safe from getting sick. You are immune. Almost all of the kids here are immune, with the exception of some. The people in the world are getting sick and dying at very, very fast rate. And that is why you kids are here. We think that you can help us find a cure. And like I said earlier, you are more important then the other children, you are special. We need your help to find a cure."

The scene changed. Now I was in a room with lots of screens. The screens showed different parts of the Glade.

"Rae, do you see Stephen sleeping?" I nodded, "We need you to show us your loyalty now. Rae, press this button."

"That will kill him, wont it?"

"Yes. Now Rae, show us your loyalty. We need to be able to count on you."

"What would you do if I said no?"

"Then he and multiple of your other friends would die. In a very painful way, I might add." I hesitated. I had known Stephen sense I was seven. We even had a handshake, not that he remembered me anymore. Could I really kill one of my friends to save the others? I looked back at the screen where he was sleeping. It sent chills down my spine to think I could end his life with the press of a button.

"Rae. Press the button." I glared at the man in a lab coat.

"Very well. I will just kill some of the others then." His had lowered to a different button.

"Wait!" I slammed my hand down on the button that cost Stephen his life. The other Gladers would just think he died in his sleep. But now I had become a murderer. I killed one of my friends.
