For three hours a ran back before I got to the door. They were still closed but should open any minute. I started laughing, overjoyed at finding the exit. When the rumbling started, signaling the doors were opening, I was bursting with excitement. As soon as the crack was big enough I dashed through. And just like that my happiness faded. In front of the doors there were two poles in the ground. The girl, Teresa, now fully awake, was tied to the first one, and the second could only belong to Thomas, who was unconscious and being dragged.
"What the shuck is going on here!" I fumed. My words drew attention to my reappearance, which sparked a burst of excitement from the boys. Newt came and enveloped me in a hug, causing me to rather harshly shove him to the ground.
"I asked a bloody question!" Newt raised his eyebrows.
"Ask Gally." He responded with distaste. I turned to look at Gally who was walking over. I raised my eyebrows I question.
"Well for starters we though you were dead. Then the girl woke up, started throwing rocks at us. And just to make everyone's shucking day the damn Grievers started climbing over the wall. Killed a lot of us. Your brother stung himself. So I decided to take charge of this shucking hellhole, and I discovered all of this is Thomas and the girls shuck fault." This caused a murmur of disagreement to ripple through the boys.
"So you decided to have them tied up?"
"No. They are the offering."
"What the shuck! What happened to the glade rules! You can't just offer them to the Grievers!"
"I can and I will. And why the shuck did you run into the maze!" I took a breath and turned to the rest of the boys.
"I found the way out." This caused an uproar, "And its marked with a shucking EXIT sign." The boys were shouting over each other, trying to get their questions heard.
"Everyone just bloody shut up!" Newt roared before turning to me. He gave me a questioning look and I sighed.
"I had a vision, that's why I passed out by the Deadheads. It showed me where we get out. So that's why I went into the maze. The path was clear because all of the Grievers came here. So I found the exit easily, stands out a bit when it has and EXIT sign."
"She's right." Everyone turned to Thomas who was now very much conscious, "She is supposed to be the one to lead us out. We can't leave without her."
"Who says we need to leave! What if they put us in here to save us? What if the outside world is a wasteland? I say we should stay here. We were doing just fine on our own." Gally persisted.
"We need to leave. The Grievers will just keep attacking until no one is left." Teresa spoke up.
"Fine! You guys can leave. Go get eaten by some Grievers. But I am staying." Gally turned to the rest on the boys, "How many of you are staying." Everyone looked hesitant but Winston, Frypan and a few other boys stepped toward Thomas, sending Gally an apologetic look.
"Gally, please come with us. You will die if you stay here!" I begged.
"Sorry princess." He gave me one last, slightly longing look, before stalking off.
"Alright everyone, lets go. Lead the way Rae." Thomas said. I looked back to the glade once more before turning around and jogging into the maze.
