I'm in grade 7 and almost grade 8.
"I know my shift is tonight Noel," I say as I grab my lunch bag.
"Yeah well good, also, I'm going to start trying to look for a job for mornings so you can have morning shifts and I'll have nights since you go out with your friends at night more often than morning," he says grabbing the juice from the fridge.
"Will she ever get better?" I ask sitting on the island chairs. Noel pauses and shrugs.
"Hopefully she will because dad hasn't been home in a while," Noel says point to the marks on the fridge counting how long my dad has not been home. It marks 3.
"Where do got think he is?" I say.
"Like I said I think he's at work but he might not be, I'm not sure," Noel says opening and closing the door.
"Mom?" I yell. No answer.
"Mom, you awake?" No answer.
I run upstairs. "Mom?" I busted open the door.
My mom lying in the bed with her eyes shut. I ran over to her and shook and she didn't move. Tears rushing down my face.
"Mom! Come on wake up!" I shake her some more.
"What happened?!" Mandy comes running over.
"I- I don't know, she was like this when I came up here, Noel just left," Mandy pushes me over.
"Here, let me help," she says as she takes her 2 fingers and places them on my mom's neck.
"There's still a pulse. Call 911," Mandy says.
"My phones is my bag," she points over to her door and I go over and grab it.
It's a couple minutes in and the ambulance arrives.
"Hey kid, you got another adult that lives with you?" The paramedic says.
"My dad hasn't been home for 3 days and my brother just left to go find a job. I have a sister but she's been at my grandparents," I said shaking.
"Listen kid, when a person goes missing the best thing that you can do is report a missing person then the police will send out a search party. And also, call your brother and tell him what happened," he says as he gets into the other ambulance.
"Do you need a drive to get over to the hospital? I can ask my dad if we can use his car," she says hugging me.
"Yeah... that'd be great," I said.
On the way to Mandy's house I felt strange.
"How did you find out where I live?" I ask Mandy. She laughs.
"Apparently Mickey knows where everyone lives,"
"Weird cause I never told him," I laugh.
"Anyways, how did you know how to do all that stuff like all the doctor stuff," I said turning to her and her face crosses with a sad look.
"What?" I ask.
"My mom use to have all these problems and then she would drink it away, but you can't just drink you problems away, more come,"
"Jeremy and Cole are home so they can probably drive you," Mandy says as she walks into the house.
"Wait here," she says as I stand by the door.
"Ian? What are you doing here?" Mickey says as he opens his door slowly. His voice is raspy so I think he had just woken up from a nap.
"Stop harassing Ian would ya Mick," Mandy says.
"This is Jeremy aka Jerry, he'll take you to the hospital Ian," Mandy says handing Jeremy the keys.
"Thanks Mandy," I say as I close the door.
"Why the hell is he going to the hospital?" Mickey asked.
"His mom, something is wrong with her," Mandy said.
"Oh okay," Mickey said.
