I sit there in the car while Mickey goes to the other side.

"Okay, let's go," Mickey says as he starts the car nervously.

"So, what happened. How did you even know about this?" I ask as he starts to drive.

"Noel was at my house with Mandy," he continues. "Mandy said that they were watching a movie and someone started calling his phone so they paused it. It was an unknown number and he thought it was one of his friends that just forgot to turn their caller ID back on. So he answered and they explained that your mom was going into surgery and that they tried to call all of the emegereny contacts but apparently the rest were deleted. The one number that they tried to call was your dad; but he hasn't been responding to anyone according to Noel. Noel said that he was so pissed that his father wasn't there for them and your mom when she was in the hospital," Mickey says as he stops at a red light.

"Where'd he go?" I ask.

"I'm not sure. According to Mandy, as soon as they hung up with him he said to Mandy that he didn't want you to know and just slammed the door and left. She has no idea of where he is," Mickey says as the light turns green and he starts driving again.

"I think I know what he's doing Mick," I knew just then what Noel was going to do.

"What is he going to do?" Mickey asks hesitating.

"He's going to try to find my dad and beat the shit out of him," I say as I put all pieces of the puzzle together.

"Oh shit, that won't go well," Mickey says as he pulls into the hospital.

I felt safe now. I felt better.

"Can I ask you something later," I say scared.

"Of course Gallagher," he says as he messes up my hair.

We pull into the hospital and both Mick and I jump out of the car. Mickey locks it and runs into the hospital with me.

"Hi, here for Gallagher, Rose," I say with my hands on the desk.

"She's in surgery. Would you like an update every hour or so?" the nurse asks as she types on the computer.

"Please," I say tapping my fingers on the desk impatiently.

"Okay so, things are not looking good right now. Her medications stopped working for her. They did find out what's wrong with her though," the nurse says reading on her computer.

"What is it?" I say as Mickey walks in behind me.

"Cancer," she says.

"Holy fuck. She has cancer?" Mickey says from behind me very loud.

"Sorry," he says moving beside me.

"Yes, she does, lung cancer. She is on stage 4," she says.

"What is stage 4. What does that mean?" I ask.

"In stage 4 the cancer has spread, beyond the lungs into other areas of the body. When people are in stage 4. The five-year survival rate for those diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer is less than 10 percent," she says with a frown.

"10%? So you are saying it's a 90% chance she'll die?!" I said.

"Ian calm down," Mickey says rubbing my back.

"Sorry," I apologize.

"Yes unfortunately  she doesn't have more of a chance of dying rather than living. But the doctors will try their best," she says as she looks at us.

"Okay, thank you so much," I say as I want over to the back row of chairs.

I sit down and Mickey sits down beside me.

"So what were you going to ask me?" Mick says.

"Promise me you will still be friends with me no matter what," I say and he laughs.

"Shoot your shot," he says leaning over to me.

"Ar-are yo-you gay?" I ask tripping over every word I say.

"No, I'm not a fag. Are you a gay? You can't get pussy that bad so you have to switch your gears around?" he says.

"I don't know if I'm gay or not," I say as my smile slants.

"Listen Ian, if I was gay my dad would beat my ass," Mickey says as he ties his shoe.

"Is it a sin to be gay?" I ask.

"Fuck no! Being gay is not a sin. A sin is something like murdering your own kids or some shit," he says.

"I thought you hated gays," I say.

"I don't hate gays. I just hate the annoying ones that have the high assed pitched voice," he says intimating it.

"Mr. Gallagher, we have an update," the nurse says. "the doctor will be right in here soon," she says.

"What the fuck man, why can't you just tell us," Mickey says standing up.

"It's not my job to do that," she says.

""It's not my job to do that", who the fuck gives a shit. Just tell us," Mickey yells.

"Calm down," I pull him down.

"Yes, please. Calm down your boyfriend," the nurse says.

All hairs on my body stood up. It felt weird to say that. It felt weird to call anyone my boyfriend.

"The fuck you just call me," Mickey says standing back up and cracking his knuckles.

"Mick, it's okay," I say as I get an idea. I pull Mickey down to the seat.

"The fuck are you doing Gallagher?" Mickey whispers.

"Just go along with it," I say.

I lean in and his lips touch mine. Holy god, I spent my first kiss with a boy and that boy is Mickey. Mickey grabs my hands and pulls me in more. He starts using tongue but I don't freak out. I go along with it. I start moaning and touching his head softly. He starts to moans a little and leans into the chair so I get on top of him and continue to kiss him. He grabs my butt and pushes me into him and I moan.

"Sir, please stop. There is children around here," the nurse says.

Mickey pulls me in closer as I moan louder and he does too. I don't feel like I need to pretend anymore. Just then, I wanted to make out with him right there. For real. Not because of a stupid nurse.

"Sir, I'll call security," the nurse says pointing back at her desk.

I stop kiss Mickey and look at her dead in the eye as Mickey bites his lip. I look around slowly.

"There ain't no fucking kids here," I say and grab Mickey hands and pull them up by his head and start kissing his neck. Then, I get off Mickey and look at him up and down.

"I'll finish with you later," I say winking at him.

"Alright, whenever the doctor is ready," I say fixing my shirt and sitting back in my seat. The doctor rolls her eyes and goes to the back room.

"You are so gay," he says as he looks me up and down.

"You are a good kisser for never kissing anyone," he says biting his lip.
