Houlton, Maine
Kit
Thunder cracks, and I jump, waking me up. I look out the window, rain pouring down, and thunder booming.
"Good Morning!" Joshua chuckles.
"Oh, hi." I yawn.
"What time is it?" I wonder.
"12:44." he answers, and I nod.
Olivia's phone buzzes from my pocket, and I take it out. ~
Olivia: Where are you guys? Are you almost here?
~ "Lauren, are we almost there?" I question.
"We are almost there!." she answers. I forgot that she had that Jersey accent.
Olivia: Where are you guys? Are you almost here?
You: Almost
Olivia: Great! What street are you on?
"What street are we on?" I wonder.
"Flint Avenue!" she bubbled.
"Okay, thank you!" I grin, and I answer Olivia's question.
Olivia: Where are you guys? Are you almost here?
You: Almost
Olivia: Great! What street are you on?
You: Flint Avenue
Olivia: Okay, Ace says to have your driver friend stop at the corner, then have you and Joshy walk the rest of the way.
You: Walk? 😭
Olivia: Yeah, sorry 😔, his father doesn't want anyone knowing where the lab is.
You: Oh, well, okay
"Josh, Liv- I mean Kit, says for us to stop at the corner and start walking from there." I address, turning to Joshua.
"Oh, well, okay." he replies.
"You can just stop at this corner here, Lauren." I inform.
"You sure? It's still raining outside." she questions.
Joshua shrugs, "It's fine, we can take a risk." I answer.
"Okay, no problem." she replies, stopping on the side of the road.
"Okay, kiddos, here we are!" she bubbled.
"Thank you again!" Joshua thanks.
"Oh, it's no prob doll, I was heading up here. It takes just about thirty minutes to get my daughter's house, no worries." Lauren smiles, and Joshua and I unbuckle our seatbelts.
"Thank you! Goodbye!" I chirp, waving 'goodbye,' stepping out of her car.
"Bye-Bye doll!" Lauren beams, and Joshua and I start walking.
Lauren drives away, and Joshua and I walk along the side of the road, cars occasionally passing by. The rain calmed down, only drizzle.
"So, I think we just start walking straight." I assume.
"Yeah, I think so, I hope so." he chuckles.
I turn my head, a field with tall grass almost as tall is me, the sky foggy, gloomy, and gray. Quite creepy if you ask me. I look back at Joshua, then back forward.
A barn painted white stands in the distance, hard to see because of the fog, "That's not the lab, is it?" I wonder.
"Maybe, maybe not. Let's go." Joshua states, and we start running toward the creepy barn.
When we get up to it, a giant metal door stands, and I look over at Joshua. He shrugs, then awkwardly knocks on the door. The door opens slowly, and we walk inside.
I look across this laboratory, and I turn my head, and I see me, my body, looking me in the eye.
