My time in New York sadly came to an end, as do all great things eventually. I'd spent a week visiting my dad every day, staying for hours until the nurses forced me to leave and then I'd spend the rest of my night alone in my apartment.
My dad is recovering remarkably. His doctor is expecting him to be discharged and allowed to go home by the end of next week. I really enjoyed getting to see my dad and spend time with him and Mandy despite the circumstances that brought me home. But I was beginning to feel lonely sitting in an empty apartment by myself in the evenings.
There was one evening, however, I'd arrived back home and there were flowers waiting on my doorstep. A beautiful array of brightly colored lilies. I couldn't stop the smile on my face when I'd read the notecard signed by my friends back in Ireland. And I could stop the even bigger smile when I'd seen Adam signed it as well.
Which is why I was happy to finally get back to Ireland. To get back to my busy work schedule and be around the people I'd grown to adore. I hadn't told any of them, except for Adam, about my return. I was more than anxious to see them again, to see him again. And I'm sure after a week alone, Oliver was ready for me to rejoin him in the makeup trailer.
My plane arrived Friday morning, and by the time I'd made it back to the hotel, it was still early afternoon. Everyone would still be on the island working. After dropping my luggage off at my room and taking a moment to stretch and rejuvenate myself, I made my way to the secluded island. Eager to see everyone.
I managed to stay out of sight as I stride through set, making my way to the familiar makeup trailer. As I near it, I can hear the upbeat, lively music blasting from inside causing me to smile. Oh, Oliver. I tap on the door lightly before creaking it open and poking my head inside.
"Shut up!" Oliver exclaims when he sets eyes on me.
I grin widely, now fully stepping inside. He immediately attacks me in a tight hug, too tight, causing me to groan before holding me at arms length and inspecting me.
"I've missed you! How're you? Are you okay?" He bombards me with questions.
I laugh, feeling a blissful feeling at being back. "I'm fine, Ollie! It's good to see you too."
"Maddy!" Daisy squeals from her chair in front of Oliver's station. My eyes dart to her, not even noticing her presence before and I'm overcome with excitement.
"Hi." I grin as she stands and I pull her into a hug.
"How is your dad? Did you get the flowers we sent?" She's serious now.
I nod. "Yes, I got them, thank you. They were beautiful. Dad is doing really well actually, he should be discharged next week."
There's a sigh of relief that comes from Oliver and Daisy's shoulders visibly relax.
"We were all so worried." Oliver tells me as Daisy sits back in his chair to finish her set makeup.
"Thank you guys for worrying. I'm glad to be back though. Where's, um- everyone else?" I question, chewing on my lip.
"Oscar and John are probably looting a snack table right now," she giggles, "...and Adam is filming a scene." She gives me a knowing look with a small smile.
I nod again, averting my eyes from her as I feel my heartbeat pickup, "Okay, I think I'll go try to find them and say hi."
I leave the trailer without another word and walk around set, searching for that familiar face. It doesn't take long to spot him. He a good foot taller than most of the people around him. He's wearing his dark Kylo Ren costume, his black hair falling into perfect waves around his shoulders.
