Chapter 2: Death Incoming

The arrows came flying faster then the dog could think as they went through all 3 of his heads and he dropped. Camilla smiled wickedly as she had completed her first death, she felt accomplished and now all she had to do was make sure Emlyn knew what was coming. The question was, who was next?

***

Emlyn paced back and forth unsure of what to do. The town was worried but Horrace and Stella remained calm as they worked on a protection plan for the town. Emlyn tried to help but she wasn't much help considering she didn't understand this world the way they did.

"What do you think we should do Horrace? The whole town is in a panic, and we obviously know Camilla will strike again..." Stella trailed off she was unsure herself but she knew they had to do something.

"Well I think we need to put the town on lock down." Horrace replied and Stella shook her head.

"That won't help she has magic she can still get in and hurt people." Stella said but Horrace smiled and looked towards Emlyn.

"She has magic to, she can put up a shield to prevent Camilla from entering, this also means while the towns protected you can venture out to find and take her down." He replied and Stella looked towards Emlyn.

"Emlyn do you think you can do it?" She asked and Emlyn very stressed wasn't sure how to reply.

"Honestly, I don't know I'm not very familiar with magic...I can try but it's not a guarantee..." She replied and Horrace walked over placing his hand on her shoulder.

"You may not be not understand magic but you understand writing don't you?" He asked and she looked at him for a long time before finally getting it.

"Of course that makes perfect since whatever I write comes to life, so i can just write a shield?" She asked and Horrace looked into the distance for a moment before returning his gaze to her.

"Not exactly, you see that will work but not as effectively. You can still write things in your mind, its about your thought process and if you can follow through." He stated and Emlyn nodded finally getting it.

"Well I might need your help Stella shall we?" She asked her and Stella nodded following her outside.

Emlyn looked at the main border between the kingdom and the paths that lead to other places in the world. She began to think of how her shield would look, she pictured it moving away from her. She closed her eyes and Stella put a hand on her shoulder for support.

White lights began to push away from Emlyn and planted themselves in the ground. Emlyn felt Stella touch her shoulder and felt strengthened by her support. The shield began to rise around in a dome form surrounding the kingdom. Emlyn imagined what the shield could protect or rather keep out, making sure keeping Camilla out was freshly planted first in her mind.

When she opened her eyes the shield was formed and she smiled at Stella, "We did it, how do we know if it worked?"

"Well I guess we will just have to wait to see if blondie tries to enter, I know it seems scary but that's the only way." Stella replied and Emlyn sighed but headed back to the palace so Horrace could announce the sad news to the town about lock down.

***

Emlyn felt terrible the kingdom was now in more panic because of the lock down, they thought it would make them feel safe, but instead they felt like it was more dangerous then they feared before because of the lock down. "Stella do you think there's anything we can do to help everyone be less scared?"

"Well, I do know we can do something to take their minds off of it." She suggessted and Emlyn was happy to hear she thought of something useful.

"What is it?" She asked and Stella got up and smiled at her.

"You are the one who's supposed to bring back our happy endings, why not go start helping people do that to comfort them while they are stuck here? It will give them hope until we can figure out how to move forward." She said and Emlyn beamed she had been waiting for a chance to do something besides fight, and now she had it.
