Trigger Warning: Panic Attack
Also, beware of cliff hanger at end, thank you!
Virgil had just walked out of his siren power class and saw Roman across the hall waiting for him. Princey waved at him excitedly. Virgil gave him a shy smile and slowly made his way through the sea of people to Roman. He got about halfway there before he got plowed to the ground by somebody he hadn't seen coming. When Virgil got his bearings, he saw that it was Janus who had ran into him, causing them to fall harshly to the ground. Virgil was about to ask him what he was running from, but before he could Roman was there asking if he was all right.
"Virgil?! Virgil, I'm sorry! I didn't see you-" Janus started to apologize profusely.
"Janus! Why weren't you watching where you were going?! Virgil or you could have been hurt with how hard you ran into him," Roman reprimanded Janus while helping Virgil up. Before Janus could even think about a response Remus came running up.
"Janus!" Remus called, "Janus, are you alright?! What happened?!" Remus gently grabbed Janus's right arm and holstered him up.
"What happened was that he just ran over Virgil! If he weren't running through the hall then it wouldn't have happened," Roman retorted.
"You do realize that they are both your soulmate, right?! It was clearly an accident, Roman, just chill," Remus shot back.
"They could have gotten hurt! Especially, Virgil! He is smaller than Janus is, so Janus's size alone could have crushed him! I just found Virgil, and I don't want to lose him!" Roman shouted as Patton and Logan walked up.
"What's wrong, kiddos?" Patton asked in his concerned dad voice.
"Janus accidently ran into Virgil and Roman is flipping out about nothing. They are both fine and that is all that matters I think," Remus stated frustrated.
"Janus was looking behind him while he was running, which caused him to run over Virgil," Roman defended.
"Kiddo, maybe you should just be thankful that neither of them got hurt," Patton suggested.
"Why was Janus looking behind him if he was running? Surely, he knew that something like this would happen," Logan stated.
"See, Remus, I'm right to be upset with Janus!" Roman declared.
"He was running from me! It was an accident! Why won't you let it go?!" Remus shouted at his twin.
The two hybrids, fairy, and elf continued to argue. The arguing got louder and louder. Virgil was content to let them hash it out if it wasn't for Janus a few feet away. He had slumped against a wall and slid down it, hugging his knees to himself. Virgil slowly and carefully walked over to him. He squatted down in front of Janus, so he wouldn't startle him.
"Hey, Janus?" Virgil called hoping to get the snake's attention. Janus slowly looked up at Virgil, but then he gripped his hair and looked back down. If he pulled on his hair any harder, he would pull it right out of his head. "Janus, are you feeling ok?" Virgil tried again. He thought that the boy in yellow was having a panic attack. "Janus? Jan, everything is ok. I'm not mad at you, I promise. I know that it was an accident," Virgil tried to comfort him, "Janus, honey, I need you to breathe."
Janus shook his head in a quick motion and pulled at his hair even harder. Every attempt Virgil made to help, just backfired. Eventually, Janus just stopped responding at all as the argument among the other four escalated. Virgil didn't want to have to use his siren voice. He wasn't ready for his three known soulmates to know that he was a siren. Virgil realized that he had no choice right now. It was either use the voice or watch Janus pass out from his panic attack.
Virgil used the headphones that he always wore around his neck to cover Janus's ears. He didn't want to cause him to pass out from panic with his voice. Virgil then quietly stood up and turned to face the four arguing students.
"Would you all stop arguing for ten seconds?! Pay attention to what's happening around you! Roman, take glasses to the right side of the hall! Remus, take cardigan to the left! If I hear a peep out of any of you, I'll put you to sleep," Virgil shouted in his siren voice. The four creatures did as they were told quickly. Virgil sighed and turned back to Janus. He removed the headphones and placed them back around his neck. "Hey, Janus," Virgil said gently, "I need you to breathe, honey. Let's breathe in for four seconds. Good, now hold that breath for seven seconds. Now breathe out for eight seconds," Virgil smiled softly as Janus followed the instructions. "Remember, Janus, four, seven, eight. You're doing great. Four, seven, eight. A few more times, honey," Virgil continued to repeat the numbers to Janus as he slowly calmed down.
"I'm sorry, Vee. I swear I didn't mean to," Janus cried.
Virgil pulled him into a hug and said, "Shhhhh, shhh. Janus, you don't need to apologize. I'm fine."
"I should have payed attention to what was in front of me. I'm sorry, Vee. I am, I swear," Janus continued to cry as he apologized again and again.
"Hush, Janus. Everything is fine and I forgive you," Virgil was using his siren voice again to comfort his soulmate, "We're going to take you to the nurse's office, because you need rest after your panic attack. Janus don't worry about what Roman said and don't worry about whatever had you running down the hall. Just close your eyes and rest, honey." Janus slowly closed his eyes and drifted off to a peaceful slumber.
"Virgil, we're still at school. He can't sleep during school hours. The teachers will yell at him," Roman said. Virgil glared at the boy in a red hoody.
"I thought I said I didn't want to hear a peep out of any of you four," Virgil scolded, "You four caused one of the sweetest creatures to have a panic attack. On top of that, he is starting his ecdysis cycle! He's going to be more tired than usual and probable more sensitive. Possibly bratty at times. He'll also be in some pain from the shedding, and I need you four to be mindful of him. Also, Roman and Remus, I need you two to carry Janus. Glasses and Cardigan, I need you to open any doors for the twins. He'll rest in the nurse's office while the rest of us will be in class. Remus, you're the closest with Janus, so you'll watch over him in the nurse's office and wake him when school ends."
