(3rd POV)

"Enjoy your coffee and have a nice day!" Yamaguchi said to the customer who grabbed their drink. He sighed as the customer left, not knowing what to do with himself since there wasn't anybody in the coffee shop and he was the only one working at the moment since it was almost time to close. He decided to take out his phone and scroll through some social media apps. He got bored looking at it though, so he made a drink for himself since nobody else was there. While he was in the middle of making his drink someone walked in through the door.

"Are you still open?" The stranger asked. Yamaguchi looked towards him. To anyone else he seemed like a normal guy; casual clothes and average looks, but Yamaguchi thought he was very attractive.

"We're about to close, but I can still make you something! What would you like?" The man looked at the menu and gave a confused look.

"I'm sorry, I do not know how to read Japanese." He said, with an apologetic smile. "I just moved here from America." Yamaguchi was surprised. He didn't look like a foreigner, but he spoke in broken Japanese.

"Well, we have coffee, tea, and some food too, what are you in the mood for?"

"Umm, can I have a coffee with cream and sugar please?"

"Sure! Would you like any food to go with it?"

"No thank you."

"Okay, that will be 800 yen!" The customer nodded and paid. He tried to talk to Yamaguchi while he made the coffee.

"What is your name?"

"I'm Yamaguchi Tadashi! What about you?"

"That's a nice name, I'm (M/N) (L/N)." (M/N) started to walk around the small shop while talking to Yama, looking at all the paintings on the wall. "Are you the only one working right now?"

"Yeah, not many people come around this late so usually it's just me. What are you doing out so late?"

"I had to finishing unpacking, and then I have been looking around for a job, but I have not found one yet." He pouted.

"Why don't you work here for now?" Yamaguchi asked. "We're looking for some more people to work, especially near my shift." (M/N) thought about it for a moment.

"How much does it pay?"

"1,500 yen per hour. You can either apply for full-time or part time. Are you a student?"

"Yes, I am a freshman attending (college name)."

"Really?! I go there too! What's your major?"

"I am a psychology major."

"Ah cool, I'm a computer science major!"

The two kept talking for a while even after (M/N) got his drink. No other customers came in so they were able to talk uninterrupted.

"Oh my god, it's already 12 am! I was suppose to close an hour ago!" Yamaguchi yelled and scrambled to clean up everything and lock up.

"Sorry, I did not mean to stay this late! I will be going, goodnight Yamaguchi!" (M/N) bowed profusely and started to walk out the door, but Yamaguchi stopped him.

"Wait! Can I, um, have your p-phone number?" He asked nervously. He was surprised that he was bold enough to ask for his number, but he wanted to see him more.

"Yes, my number is ***-****-****." Yamaguchi wrote down (M/N)'s phone number.

"Thank you! Goodnight (M/N)!"

(M/N) applied for a job at the coffee shop, and he ended up working the same time as Yamaguchi. Both of them started to talk more, and their feelings towards each other developed alot. Before winter break, Yamaguchi had told Tsukishima about he felt about (M/N), and Tsuki encouraged Yama to ask him out. The day before winter break started, he asked out (M/N)

"Hey (M/N), can I ask you something?" Yamaguchi asked while they were cleaning up.

"Sure, what is it?" (M/N) had become better at speaking in Japanese and was able to read more of it (not a whole lot but it was alot better than before).

"Well, we've known each other for a while, and um, I...I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date with me?" (M/N) stared at him for a bit. Yamaguchi couldn't read his expression, so he kept rambling on. "Y-You don't have to say yes though! I know just because you like guys doesn't mean you would like me, but I like you and I wanted to see if you felt the same! If you don't-"

"Of course I will Yamaguchi! I didn't speak because I forgot what 'date' was in Japanese. I feel the same way about you." (M/N) gave a warm smile which nearly made Yamaguchi's heart explode.

They went on multiple dates, and then (M/N) asked Yamaguchi to be his boyfriend in the middle of their shift, which caused Yamaguchi to drop one of the customers drinks. He apologized, but the customer was very forgiving and gave congratulations for the new couple.
