The next day I was startled awake by the sound of a dog barking. I jumped up and looked around. For a brief second, I had forgotten where I was. When I remembered, I stood up and stretched. I made my way down and was startled once again at the sound of a motorcycle approaching. I moved out of the way right before the guy riding the bike could knock me down. He was eyeing me once he parked his bike.

"And who the hell are you?" he asked, getting off his bike.

"I could ask you the same question," I retorted, crossing my arms.

He walked up to me and stared me down. Who the hell was this guy and who did he think he was.

"Daryl. This is Natalia. We found her trying to help out Rosita," Jesus came over and said.

"What happened with Rosita?" the man he called Daryl asked.

"Daryl!" Aaron called.

He came up and gave Daryl a hug.

"I thought I heard a motorcycle. Good morning, Natalia," Aaron said, looking over at me.

"Hey, Aaron."

"What happened with Rosita? Is she here?" Daryl asked.

"She was very dehydrated. We brought her here. Eugene's still out there though. The thing is, we could use a good tracker," Aaron said.

"Of course," Daryl said.

"You guys are leaving now?"

Daryl glared at me.

"You think we shouldn't?" he asked, still glaring at me.

"As a matter of fact, yeah I do."

What was this guy's problem?

"You ain't one of us, so stay outta this."

I rolled my eyes at him and went over to Aaron.

"Things aren't what they used to be, Aaron. The chances of you all making it back in one piece is very slim."

"You think we don't know that?" Daryl asked.

"I'm sorry, was I talking to you?" I said already annoyed with this guy.

"It don't matter what you say, we are not leaving one of our people out there."

"You guys don't know what you're dealing with."

"And you do?"

"Considering I've been out there for a long time, yeah I do. So why don't you do us all a favor and shut the hell up, okay?"

"Guys, cool it. Nat, look, we can't leave Eugene out there. Rosita didn't want that. We have to bring him back. We just have to," Aaron said, patting my shoulder.

I moved a little closer to him and Jesus.

"You watch yourselves out there. There are things...things that won't make sense to you. I can't stress enough how alert you have to be," I said to the both of them.

"We'll be fine, Natalia. You're showing initiative. I like that. Tell you what, when we get back, I'll see if we can make a place for you here," Jesus said, mounting his horse.

"I may be gone before you come back."

"Why?" he asked.

I couldn't find an answer for him.

"Stick around. I think you'll find you can belong here with time," he said.

"I don't know, Jesus."
