Warnings:bad relationship, relationship problems
Summary: Steve really did love Tony, but I guess not everything is meant to be...
FYI: This is a Ironstrange oneshot----
Steve was never the one for love honestly. He never let people in, he was scared that he'd lose them. Until he met Tony, it was blind love. He really liked him, he wanted a life. And he was foolish to think that Tony loved him back. And yeah, some mistakes get made, that's alright. He thought he was in love but he was just in pain.
Love is a wolf in sheep's clothing. The friend that you learn to trust just to have your back stabbed with a knife. Steve learned that the hard way, looking at the person he grew to love and cherish with another man. One he knows about, to be exact. Stephen Strange.
Steve began to hate this Dr. Strange. But how can he hate such a great guy?! That's what stressed him out, he didn't hate Stephen, he hated himself for not getting over Tony. But still, he couldn't help but scowl when he even took a glimpse at Stephen. He was never interested in alcohol until the aftermath of blind love.
He would take long drives on his motorcycle at night, wanting to get his mind off Tony and Stephen. But all the drives do is remind him of Tony. The thing is, he was.. happy for Tony. He loved to see him happy, and even if he wasn't with him, he was still happy he was happy. Stephen obviously gave Tony joy, and he was thankful for that. But he could only wish he was in the shoes of Stephen.
He misses the hugs, cuddles, kisses, late night texts and calls... He misses everything about Tony. He wishes he can turn back time and prove himself worthy of Tonys heart. He wish God was kinder... But maybe this was Gods punishment for the whole civil war thing with the Avengers.
Now, the thing that hurt the worse was seeing Tony and Stephen with Peter. He remembers his happy moments with the young hero. He hates to see the three of them together, it should he him sitting there instead of Stephen. Peter should be calling him Pops, not Stephen. It should be him joking around with Tony.
He was too old for this, but that's what he didn't want. He wanted happiness before he died. But without Tony... There really wasn't anything. Nothing but a black void with Steves worn and drained out heart, sitting there dried up and used. Old, weary, and weak...
But I guess some mistakes get made, and that's alright, that's okay. You may think that you're in love, but you're just in pain. And in the end it's better for Steve, that's the moral of the story.
