Prolouge Part 3

Black widow

Natasha Romanova A.K.A the black widow wasn't always a ruthless killer. She was just a scared little girl not understanding the world around her. You see Natasha was born without a soulmark so the dream her parents had of her marrying into an influential family went up in smoke. So when little Natasha turned seven she was sold to the red room where she was raised by a woman only referred to as " The Madam".

While under the care of the madam Natasha was trained in combat with 19 other girls. One after one the girls would be pitted against each other often resulting in the death of one of them, as the madam demanded ruthlessness, and if a girl refused, they would be punished in creative and cruel ways. As she grew older Natasha became used to the senseless killing that was expected of her from the Red Room and the KGB. Even though she knew she was a killer from a young age she still dreamed of one day being a mother but as part of the graduation ceremony from the Red Room, the girls are sterilized therefore crushing Natashas hope of ever having a family.

So she devoted herself to her work. She became everything the Black Widow was supposed to be, a cold and ruthless killing machine. Natasha carried out missions that some saw as heartless or cruel. Natasha had never had anything, not even a friend, well that was until she met him, the man sent to kill her. Clint Barton was sent to kill her but gave his mission up and chose to give her a job offer instead, work for S.H.I.E.L.D., or get taken out. Of course, Natasha chose the thing that does not mean her in a box six feet under. Being part of S.H.I.E.L.D., still meant she had to kill, but at least now it was a necessary evil, right?

Natasha had mission after mission, many that meant saving hostages, from agencies she used to kill for, and interrogating people that the normal authorities couldn't. In the few years after Natasha joined S.H.I.E.L.D. She quickly rose in the ranks from a level 1 clearance to a level 9 clearance, which is the highest level an agent can achieve. Natasha became Nick Fury's, the director of S.H.I.E.L.D., most trusted agent and that is saying something as he never trusts anyone. Upon joining S.H.I.E.L.D. Natasha was partnered with Clint Barton, the man sent to kill her. Clint soon became her best friend and most trusted confidant.

So when Clint was compromised Natasha did all in her power to get him back. Natasha became a part of the avengers to try to get him back, of course, she also had to help retrieve the tesseract but that was less important to Natasha. Clint had been brainwashed by Loki's scepter and the way Natasha got him back was to hit him really hard in the head or as she calls it cerebral recalibration. As part of the avengers Natasha became happy, she had her best friend turned lover, a home, and a family. But the more time she spends with the team she noticed a change in herself and in the others.

She wasn't as spiteful when she was annoyed with the team or as sarcastic when Tony made stupid comments. She would get up to make breakfast with steve just because she could, she would spend time in the lab with Tony and bruce just listening to them ramble about what they were doing, she would go around town with the twins to show the different spots that were good and she would sit with Thor to both teach him about Earth and learn about Asgard. She would even see Clint join her on her little adventures with the team.

She had even started noticing a mark appearing on her thigh as well as on Clint's.
At first, it was just hers and clint's insignias in the mark but then an insignia that they didn't know appeared. Then the rest of the mark appeared and Natasha started to piece together that maybe the team was meant to be together in the end, and Natasha could never be happier, her family would always be together and they would get new members that Natasha was sure she was gonna love just the same.

Of course, Natasha wanted to know why the mark had suddenly appeared, but not because she thought it made her or the team weak or vulnerable, in fact, Natasha thought it would make them have something to fight for.

Natasha wanted to know because she had become cold and unemotional growing up without a mark but now she had one and that gave her something to fight for. She had also wanted to know why they had one now and not before. Was it because they were finally together?

No, that couldn't be it, they would have had the mark since birth then.

Was it because someone thought they deserved it?
But that just seems crazy, who would even have that kind of power, and who would waste it on them when they could do so much more with it.
Natasha spent hours thinking about why they got the mark and how someone did it, but she never got the answer she wanted and in the end, it didn't really matter to Natasha. She had her family with her and that was all that mattered to her.
