prolouge Part 11

Sam

Sam had always had a pretty normal life, he had a sister and two parents that loved him. Sam had a good life, he had a nice childhood, he got to play with anyone he wanted and his parents were great, he got good grades in school and was well liked the only thing that wasn't that good was the fact that sam never received his soulmark so he felt a little left out when all his friends found their soulmate and started to plan the rest of their lives and all sam could do was watch so sam decided to join the military. Sam was actually encouraged to join because he didn't have a mark and therefore had no chances of meeting his soulmate in enemy forces.

Sam spent the next couple years in the military just minding his business, going through training and then becoming a pararescue. Sam was deployed 4 times with his wingman Riley. During the time that they worked together sam and Riley became rather close, the kind of close that made Sam question himself several times, sam knew that neither he nor Riley had a soulmate which meant that it wouldn't matter if he tried to pursue a relationship with Riley couse it wouldn't hurt anyone, but Sam knew it could potentially jeopardize the partnership they already had and that would be fatal in their line of work, so Sam kept his feelings to himself.

Everything went as it should, however on their next rescue mission Riley was shot down, absolutely devastated Sam retired and became a volunteer at the VA- hospital. For a year Sam would walk around just talking with patients about how they were doing and what was hard for them and what they were doing to help themselves.

Apparently it helped the patients cause Sam got offered a job as a counselor for different groups of veterans, Sam had always been super ntune with emotions so he liked the work he was doing, helping others was just a bonus. For 2 years Sam continued to counsel at the hospital and it had helped him too, couse he had toæ talk about himself as a way for his "patients" to trust and relate to him. Sam kept doing all the little habits he formed while being enlisted, like getting up early and going on runs or being super organised.

Sam used to get nightmares and working out was a great distraction plus it kept him in shape, so he wasn't really complaining.one morning while on his run, he was just running minding his own business, he was overtaken by someone and all he registered was that it was a blond male that kept going "on your left" every time he ran by.

Sam tried to keep up with the person but they were just too fast, and apparently had amazing stamina for they were still running by the time Sam felt like his lungs were giving up. This was the start of his avenging career. Couse a week after that day steve and natasha were standing on sams doorstep dirty and bruised. After making breakfast and overhearing what they were talking about, Sam showed Nat and Steve his army file containing the details of his rescue missions.

The next couple of hours went fast and were really stressful, they were almost killed several times, thrice on the highway on the way to turn in jasper sitwell after their little interrogation and once on the street running from the winter soldier and then again when sam, steve and natasha infiltrated shield to take down the helicarriers, being shot at by secret agent villains is very stressful.

Sam had ended that day in a hospital room watching over an unconscious steve. Sam was offered to join the avengers but he declined in favor of helping Steve chase leads the blond couldn't. He spent about a year chasing leads on Bucky but after the Sokovia fiasko Sam became an avenger but because he didn't have many missions Sam still spent a lot of his time looking for the missing super soldier. Then the whole airport thing happened and he was locked in the raft for a while, then the purple alien invasion happened and Sam "died" for a while and then he returned because of a wizard(?).

Sam was glad when he and the rest of the avengers got to live comfortably together and have a seemingly normal life while still being "super heroes". Sam liked that he could mess with Bucky and get fond eye rolls from Steve. he liked that he could help Tony and Bruce in the lab even though he had no idea about science, though he was decent at mechanics. He liked that could take care of the twins when they needed someone, he liked that Thor and loki would tell stories of their very long lives and many battles, he liked that Natasha, clint and himself could sit in the living room and talk about how funny their super humans was, yes tony was included in the talks even if he didn't have any powers.

And he liked that he could make fun of Stepen, in the most loving way of course, and make wizard related puns. Sam liked his life as part of the avengers and for the first time in his life he was fine with not having a soulmate, cause he thought he had found his family right here, and he was happy. So when Sam's mark first appeared Sam was confused and scared. He was scared he would have to leave the avengers but when sam noticed what the mark was he was so relieved he would have to stay now, he was happy. He could stay that made him really happy and no one would come between him and his mates.
