I watch as Haruo slowly faded from me and Katashi. I couldn't blame him, after being treated like that. I glanced over at Seiko, I had no problem with her. I no longer despise her, she just reminded me of Yua. Seiko somehow makes me feel like Yua never died and she never left. Seiko became the first girl in the volleyball team, and then following, she managed to convince the tomboy Chizu Kimura to join too.
"Chizu-chan! Keep quiet!" I heard Seiko yell, earning the attention of everybody in the bus. Her face slowly became red and she apologized before sinking into her seat, embarrassed.
I turned to my seat partner; Katashi Hara. He hasn't been the same since Seiko came and took away our friends. I turned my attention to my phone and started listening to music.
"Do you think Yua is still alive? And if she was, do you think she'll be proud of me?" I heard Katashi ask facing me. I took one of my earphones out and narrowed my eyes.
"I don't know, do you think she'll be proud of what you did to Haruo?" I answered emotionlessly.
"I don't know, I just don't want Yua to think we've replaced her," Katashi sighed looking out the window.
"I don't think it gives you a reason to hurt others," I replied closing my eyes, "Yua is gone, it's already been five years. Seiko doesn't stand a chance to Yua. Only Yua can replace Yua." Katashi's eyes seemed to soften after what I said.
..."Get out and go inside the gym to change and then warm up!" Sano-sensei's powerful voice woke me up from my sleep. I quietly walked out the bus and headed to the gym with Katashi.
"Seiko-chan, when do you think you're going to tell Akahiro and Katashi about it?" I heard Haruo try and whisper to the two girls.
Tell us what?
What did she have to tell us?
I decided to ignore it and quickly change, it was going to be our first game this season. After changing, I walked out to hear screeching fangirls cheer for me.
"AKAHIRO-KUN!!!"
I winced, my ears were about to bleed with all the squealing that sounded like screeching birds. I looked over at Seiko, she looked good in the volleyball uniform. I could say she has the looks for it, but she's also one of the best players here. She covered for all of our mistakes at the court, she had our backs.
"Akahiro-kun, where's Katashi?" I heard Seiko ask me, her smile as bright as the sun.
wait...
Did she just call me Akahiro-kun? She finally added the suffix, my name was flawless when she said it.
"I just wanted to invite you two after the game, whether we lose or not. The Kimura's are having a gathering tonight, I suggest you bring your parents too," I heard her chuckle, "It wouldn't be a problem since it's the Winter break after this."
I heard Sano-sensei gather us all for a plan, the first set included me, Chizu, Katashi, Shiro, Semi and Yoshadai.
"Seiko, observe the opponent team and how they play and after you have it, we can put you in the game to replace Chizu," Sano-sensei instructed as Chizu and Seiko agreed. I knew Chizu didn't really like playing, she was more into weapons than sports. Anytime she had a chance to sit back and watch, she'd take it.
"Okay, let's show them who's boss, Takayama Fight!" Seiko started, and we all joined in.
I walked on the court and got into place to serve the ball.
