"Katya! Katya, come on."

"I'm coming mom." Katya slipped on her heels and looked at herself in the mirror. Tonight was the night of the showcase, the biggest night for the students in the art club. It was the night they got graded on the biggest project of the year, the night that their families and friends would see their work, and for Katya..the night that Trixie would see what she meant to her. Katya's hands were shaky as she grabbed her jacket and walked downstairs.

"Awe, you look so beautiful sweetie."

"Thank you mom."

"Are you ready?"

"Yes, I'm ready."

"Goo-oh wait wait."

"What is it mom?"

"I want to take pictures."

"Mom, do I have to?"

"Yes, now shush." Katya groaned and put on a fake smile, waiting for her mother to take pictures until her heart was content.

"You done now?"

"Yes, come one let's go."

"I call shotgun!"

"No, you are getting in the back with your sister. Your father is getting in the front."

Katya listened to music as she stood in the hall. Katya wasn't ready to go inside, she wanted to wait for Trixie. Trixie had texted Katya and told her that she was about 15 minutes away, so Katya refused to go inside. "Kat!" Katya turned around with a smile when she heard Trixie calling her name. Trixie looked beautiful as she walked towards Katya. She was wearing a powder blue sheer dress with white heels. "I'm sorry that it took me so long to get here, Bianca got back a little late with the car."

"It's okay, I'm just happy that you are here. You look amazing by the way."

"You think so? I had no idea if I would look good in this color."

"You look fucking gorgeous." Katya placed a kiss on Trixie's cheek and grabbed her hand, leading her into the gym.

"Are you nervous?"

"Yes and no."

"Explain?"

"Well, I know that I'm going to get a good grade but.."

"But what?"

"Well, I am just scared to see what you think of it."

"Katya. I'm sure it is great." Katya smiled weakly and nodded. She hadn't told Trixie that she had painted her. Katya didn't know how Trixie would react but there was no time to really think about that now. "So, where is it?"

"Over there." Katya pointed to a rather large canvas on the wall to the far left. Trixie followed Katya's finger and gasped when she saw the painting. "Katya, is that?"

"Yeah." Trixie slowly made her way to the canvas, trying to process what she was seeing. She was looking at herself. Katya has painted her. In the painting, Trixie was sitting at a piano with a small smile on her face.

"When was this?"

"The first day I met you."

"Kat, you didn't even know me. How was that something that made you happy?"

"Because that was the day life changed for me."

"What?" Katya stared at the painting and sighed.

"I don't know why when I first saw you, when I first heard you sing and speak, I wanted nothing more than to know you. I wanted to know your name, your birthday, your favorite time of year. I just wanted to know you, and have the chance to be your friend. You looked so lonely, so sad and your voice confirmed that. There was such a heaviness in the words you sang." Katya held Trixie's hand a little tighter and chuckled. "I wanted to know why you were so sad...so I could try and help."

"Without even knowing me?"

"Crazy huh? I thought so too, and I still do. There was a chance that you could have 100% just blew me off, but you didn't. So, I knew."

"Knew what?"

"That you didn't want to be alone, even if that is what you said."

"Thank you."

"For what?"

"Not giving up. I know I wasn't so warm to you when we first met, and just like I could have blew you off..you could have said fuck you. You didn't though and I am happy because of it. I'm happy because of you. I guess in a way, that day changed my life also."

"I love you Trixie."

"I love you too Katya." Trixie smiled as she hugged Katya, still looking at the painting.
