"This night has been so much fun. I don't want it to end." You pouted as you leaned your cheek on Liz's shoulder as you walked hand in hand out of the restaurant. As a sweet surprise, she had treated you to a delicious dinner for your date night. You've been missing days like this with her, especially since everything tends to feel a little more overwhelming these days.

"It doesn't have to. It's not late, there's still plenty of things for us to do!" She assured and with a kiss to your forehead you continued to walk down the street together. She was throwing out suggestions, telling you to pick which one sounded best. But, honestly, all of them sounded amazing - because they were with her, and spending time with her was all you really wanted.

You were just about to tell her that, too. When suddenly, there was a loud yell of your names behind you. You both turned to see the paparazzi beginning to approach you, although they were actually keeping their distance tonight.

"Can't seem to go one place without them finding us." She mumbled under her breath before letting your hand go but only to wrap her arm around your waist and bring you as close to her as she possibly could. "Keep your head down and don't take anything they say to heart." She reminded you and gave your hip a squeeze before she sighed and lowered her gaze to her feet.

You did the same, although you occasionally lifted your head to look around for a place to go. But the camera flashes and the loud screams of your name each time you looked up only made you lower your head yet again.

You could feel your heart beginning to hammer in your chest as they got a little closer and a little louder. Even though they weren't in your face, they were still too close for comfort. You swallowed thickly, attempting to swallow the lump forming in your throat before you reached down to find your girlfriend's hand. Once you felt it you squeezed it a couple of times, letting her know that you were afraid and uncomfortable.

"It's alright. I'm right here. I won't let them hurt you." She whispered in your ear and tightened her grip on you. She could hear your shaky breaths and she looked around to find they had gotten closer. They were almost walking directly beside, behind, and in front of you.

"Give us some space! You're really freaking my girlfriend out."

The frustration was evident in her voice and, surprisingly, they listened and gave you both a little room to breathe. Liz breathed out in relief and looked to find that a cute and cozy cafe was just around the corner. "We'll go to that cafe. Relax for a little while." She said and squeezed your hand to assure you that everything was alright.

It almost felt like you'd never reach it. Your heart was still pounding in your chest and you felt anxious. But once she opened the door for you to step inside and the cool air rushed over you, you felt safe again.

She led you to a table and sat across from you. She took your hand and brushed her thumb along your knuckles soothingly. Soft music played throughout the cafe and with it, your heart started to slow and return to a normal, steady beat again.

"Better?" She asked, a little worriedly.

But you lifted your head and sent her a small smile, calming her own nerves now that yours were starting to ease now. "Better. Thanks for keeping me safe."

"Always, my love."
