The sound of whimpers leaving Liz's lips from beside you awoke you from your peaceful slumber.
You craned your neck, turning over a little to find the lamp on and her sitting up as she held her stomach. Her teeth sank into her lower lip, her skin looked clammy and pale. She looked sick.
"Babe? Are you feeling alright?" You asked groggily as you sat up and rubbed the sleep from your eyes.
She turned to look at you, allowing for you to see the pain in her eyes and the sweat rolling down her skin.
"No. I feel sick."
"Did you feel sick before we came to bed?" You asked worriedly as you moved to sit beside her and rub her back.
"A little. But I just brushed it off as my lack of sleep catching up to me." She whimpered. "I don't feel good."
You tried to make her feel better by rubbing her back and shoulders and whispering comforting words in her ear. But it was pointless, really. She felt so sick that nothing was gonna help until her stomach was emptied of whatever was making her feel so terrible.
And it didn't take long for the urge to arise.
She laid her hand over her lips before she jumped up and rushed into the bathroom. Her bare feet fell across the floor quickly before she started to throw up.
You crinkled your nose at how painful it sounded before you followed her and knelt behind her on the floor.
At the time, her forehead rested on her forearm. She'd thrown up already but had a moment to breathe in between.
"Are you alright?" You asked as you grabbed a hair-tie from the counter and pulled her hair back for her. She shook her head and gagged again, leaning her head back over the toilet to let everything up once more.
"I feel so terrible." She whimpered. making your heart shatter.
"I know, baby. I'm here with you though. I promise."
The agonizing sickness ended for a few more long minutes. Every time she'd lean forward your heart would sink deeper and deeper in her chest. The smell was overwhelming and the taste of the vomit on her tongue made her throw up again and again.
But finally, after several torturous moments, she finished.
She hung her head. Her chest moved up and down quickly as she tried to catch her breath. She let out a shaky breath and melted into your touch when you put your hand on her shoulder.
"Feeling any better?"
She nodded slowly and placed her head back on your shoulder. "I'm exhausted."
"I bet." You whispered soothingly. "Why don't we brush your teeth then get you back to bed."
"Okay."
You held onto her as you helped her stand on her feet. Her legs shook, weak from what had just happened. She leaned on you as she brushed her teeth and rinsed her mouth out.
"Is there anything you need before we get you all cozy in bed?"
"No. I have water and the trash can on my side is empty if I need to use it. I just wanna lay with you and sleep."
You nodded and helped her back to bed. You tucked her in under the covers and lied beside her. You took the opportunity to lay a few soft kisses across her face when she turned to look at you.
"This is so what I need right now with everything going on. Filming, interviews; what a wonderful time for this to strike."
You gave her a sad smile then kissed her warm forehead.
"You should try to sleep."
"Okay." She mumbled sadly. "I love you. Thank you for taking care of me."
"I'll take care of you until you feel all better. I promise." You said, watching her eyes close. "Try to sleep now. Maybe you'll feel better if you get some rest."
"I hope so." She said. "Goodnight, y/n."
"Goodnight, baby girl. Sleep tight. I'll be right here if you need anything." You assured, brushing your fingers through her hair as she drifted off to sleep.
