I prepare myself for the loving lies from Sam to begin.
"But I love you." His soft words match his hurt eyes. My stomache flutters at his words.
I remind myself that he's lying to me and that I can't let him break my walls.
"Are you kidding me?" I scoff as I cross my arms. He can't be telling the truth.
*Sam's P.O.V*
"Are you kidding me?" She starts to yell at me. I know I deserve it, but I just wish she would believe me.
I do love her, I think I always will. No, I know I always will. I have to admit, I was messed up. My plan was just to mess with her head, but I never planned for her to figure everything out. I fell for her in the short 20 minute ride to the mall. All it took was a couple short minutes for me to melt into the palm of her hand.
"No, I'm more serious than I ever have been." I don't want talk to her when I'm like this, I don't even know why I came here.
"Right... And JC's my boyfriend." I know she's being sarcastic and my blood begins to boil. I turn to JC.
"What?" I growl so low, I can barely hear myself.
*JC's P.O.V*
"Right... And JC's my boyfriend." I can tell Lia's choice of words don't properly filter through Sam's clouded thoughts.
Sam slowly turns around and his eyes narrow on me. He's intoxicated and clearly jealous.
"What?" I can barely understand what he's saying, but he's so mad, I don't think he cares.
"She was being sarcastic. We aren't dating, we never will date. I don't even like her, she annoys me." I immediately want to apologize to Lia.
I love her. But I don't want to be pulverized by suprisingly strong, Sam, that's the last thing I need right now. I turn to Lia and her face is bright red and stained with tears. Her hands fly to her face and she races out the door. I jump up to go after her, but Sam's hand grips around my bicep. I sigh and turn around. I can smell the whiskey in his breathe. I lightley push Sam away from me and he falls over. My fingers clumbsily dial Kian's number. He won't be happy to come help me get Sam back to the house, but Kian is Sam's best friend.
"Hello?" Kian sounds annoyed, but I don't care anymore.
"Get over to McDonalds, now. Sam's wasted and his filter isn't working. He thinks me and Lia are dating."
"Why would he think that?" He already doesn't like Lia, I can't blame her for this.
"I told you, his filter isn't working." I scoff into the phone.
Sam's fist connects with my jaw and I have to blink a couple times before I can realize what's happening.
"Sam!" I scold in disbelief.
"Pottorff." Someone booms from the door. It's Kian, I can't believe how fast he got here.
Sam throws his hands in the air and smiles wide.
"Lawley!" They hug and I can hear Kian coaxing Sam into leaving with him.
Sam stumbles out the door and Kian crouches down beside me.
"You okay man?" He places a hand on my shoulder and I nod.
"Do you know why Lia was running down the block crying?" Kian helps me up and I run my hand through my hair.
"It's a long story, that I don't have time for." I stabilize myself and run out the door.
I feel like I'm going to throw up, but I have to reach Lia. She means the world to me, I can't have her thinking that I find her annoying. I didn't realize we were right by a mall until I had some serious dejavu. The night I beat the sh** out of Sam, I remember her curled up in a ball against a brick wall, crying her eyes out. Both times it was my fault. I don't deserve her, I know I don't. But I can't live without her.
"Are you okay?" I ask quietly and I sit next to Lia on the concrete.
She immediately becomes silent at the sound of my voice. I'm not sure that that's good. She doesn't say anything to me, and I realize that she's trying to dissapear. Kian drives up to the spot where we both are.
"You want a ride or not?" Kian snaps and I can tell he's already fed up with Sam.
I flip him off so he gets the idea that he should go away. I hear him chuckle loudly, causing Lia to slightly look up, then bury her face back into her knees. Kian drives away and for once I'm glad that Kian came.
"I really hurt you, didn't I?" I manage to say a lot softer than I ever thought I could.
She unravels herself, turns to me, and folds her legs. Her face is smeared with black make-up and she's turning absolutely red.
"No, you didn't. That's exactly what I needed to hear JC!" She throws her hands up in the air.
God, I'm a monster.
"Of course you hurt me! You always do, if you want to get rid of me so bad, why don't you?" I can tell that she has finally rebuilt her walls. Too bad she just knocked down mine.
