chapter 37: delivery
location: biloxi, mississippi, day 1

Hoseok slept on the floor that next night, with the other boys, without Namjoon and Yoongi.

Most of the boys' first day in Mississippi had been spent at a junkyard. There were several vehicles from all over the South there. Most of them had had their license plates removed, but there were a few that they could pry off and store in the back of the purple van. By the time they were done, their potential states had increased from three to fifteen.

"We'll need to start changing these out every night," Namjoon had said. "Even when we're staying in one place for a day or two. We just can't trust anything anymore, can we."

But then they had went back to their hotel, masquerading as from Ohio, and Namjoon and Taehyung had gone to Blockbuster to get some movies. They had all sat together, eating pizza and trying their best to relax, when Hoseok had fallen asleep on the floor. And rather than wake him up, Namjoon had wrapped a blanket around him and let him be.

It would be easier, anyway, if Hoseok did not interrupt Namjoon's plans.

After everybody had gone to bed, Namjoon woke Yoongi up with a fresh cup of coffee. "Hey, I wanted to talk to you about your letter."

"Now? At three in the morning?"

"Sure, why not? Oh, but before you object, I got you something."

"Seriously, Namjoon, why..." Yoongi sat up and rubbed his eyes. "Why did you have to wait until three in the morning?"

"Because I didn't want anybody else to listen to our conversation? You don't want to accidentally come out to them, do you?"

"Oh." Yoongi blushed. Namjoon was, after all, the only person who knew his secret. He just also happened to be the person he liked. This conversation could mean they were together. Even though it was three in the morning, Yoongi suddenly got butterflies. "Good point. What did you get me?"

Namjoon handed Yoongi an envelope with a cassette tape in it. When Yoongi opened it, he saw that it was a copy of Agust D's Volume 5, the last volume that had been published. The words PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY were printed on the top in yellow print. "See that?"

"Yeah. It was the last one he published before he quit."

"No, I mean the promotional label."

"Oh. Yeah, I guess I do see that." The way Yoongi remembered it, he had always gotten a few of these PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY tapes for himself and friends. He had always sent one to Randa, but he chalked it up to coincidence that he was holding one in his hands, right now, years later. Namjoon didn't know he was Agust D, anyway. "That's really cool. Thank you, Namjoon."

Namjoon smirked. It was about time the cat was let out of the bag. "How do you know so much about this Agust D kid, anyway?"

"Come on, Joon. I'm a pianist. Of course I have to know this stuff."

You're lying, Yoongi, Namjoon thought to himself, but he let Yoongi lie for now. "I mean, I always thought you were more classical."

"Yeah, well, I was a fan of Agust D's when I was a kid." Yoongi puffed out his cheeks. Namjoon just laughed at him. And then Yoongi was met with an incredibly uncomfortable silence, one he only knew how to break one way.

He rolled his eyes. "Okay, look, fine. That's me. I'm Agust D. You got me, Joon."

Namjoon smirked again. "Oh, I know."

"What?" Shit. Nobody was supposed to know this. Yoongi had quit years ago. There was supposed to be no connection between Min Yoongi and Agust D. "How did you figure it out, man?"
