"This won't hurt much."

My body started to throb uncontrollably. I looked up at Slade.

I heard a bang as my body hit the floor.

I tried to get up, but to no avail.

That sickening laughter flooded my ears for like the millionth time.

Just then pain flooded through my jaw and I passed out with exhaustion.

Meanwhile...

"Let him go!"

"Or what? You think you can stop me?"

"I found you didn't I."

Slade looked back at the wall. It was completely destroyed.

***

My eyes shot open. I looked at Slade and Raven? She came! Wait, how did she know where to look for me?

I looked back at Raven. Except she didn't look like Raven anymore. Her skin was red and her eyes were dark.

For once Slade looked scared.

"What are you?"

Raven stared laughing at this. It wasn't her normal laugh either. It sounded very strange.

"Stop that!" Slade demanded.

"Or what? You'll do this?"

Raven was instantly next to him.

She smiled coldly.

She put her hand out. My magic already coating her hand.

"Any last words?"

Slade dug in his pocket and pulled out a gun. Not just any gun. The gun. From his coma.

"Oh please. You can't hurt me."

"I'm not trying to hurt you you."

He pointed his gun at me. I held my breath.

She shrunk back a bit.

"No. Don't."

"What? This?"

I don't know why I didn't move I just stood there. Frozen.

Pain shot through my chest, warm blood spewing everywhere.

"Noooo!" Raven screeched, still in her demonic form.

I looked up and Raven was there, leaning over me.

She glowed for a second and resumed her normal form.

"Raven. If I die there's something I have to tell you first."

"No, don't say that. You'll be fine."

"Raven I..."

"Shh. Me first."

There was a long pause. I could sense Raven's nerves. What could she possibly be afraid to tell me?

"I- I love you. I always have."

She leaned down and kissed my forehead softly.

I didn't feel pain anymore. Had she healed me?

If she did then then why does she look so sad.

She got up and started walking away. I tried to follow her, but I couldn't move.

"Raven!"

She looked back. Wiping a stray tear from her eye.

"I'm sorry but I have to do this."

Raven began walking again, leaving me to watch.

She turned to Slade. I have to stop her. Before she gets hurt. This is my fight.

"Done crying over your boyfriend already?" Slade asked.

"I won't fall for your mind games Slade." Raven retorted with an edge to her tone.

"We'll see about that."

I have to break free. Using all my strength I pulled against my invisible restraints. After a few tries I managed to get free.

"Raven!"

"Stay back."

"No. Not this time."

I pulled her close and gently placed my lips against hers.

A huge burst of energy was released, casting Slade into oblivion.

Raven stared in awe.

"How did you know that would work?"

"Your powers are controlled by emotion."

"Oh." She looked down, trying to hide her disappointment, but I could see right through her.

"Rae?"

"Yes?"

I bit my lip. Then leaned forward, my lips colliding with hers once more.

She broke away, confusion lighting her gaze.

"I love you." I whispered.

"I love you too."
