Third-person pov.
Error could not for the life of him figure out how he survived falling through the void not only once, but twice. He woke up to the sound of metal crashing, finding himself in an alleyway. The cause of the crash had run out of the alley, having been startled by the sudden appearance of the skeleton. He looked around until his attention was turned towards movement in between his arms.
A small head covered by a light blue hat popped up, still trying to rub the sleep from his eyes.
"*yawn* Morning, Daddy. Where are we?" He looked down at the baby bones before swiping his hand through the air. Small portal revealing codes appeared.
"I don't know, but I'm going to find out." He read the codes as they flew by, telling him the story of the world he is now in, a tale of peace, where the war didn't end in exile—a tale of monsters and humans living in harmony for centuries. Magic is used mostly in medicine or particular jobs you would have to train for; attack magic, for example, is only used by those in the Special Forces. One detail, in particular, caught his eye.
"It's all one world. No Aus, no timelines, just one world." He began to laugh, joy spilling out in a way that never happened before, which woke the other baby bones he was holding. "No Aus means no balance! I'm free! I'm finally free!" He spoke quieter with each sentence, tears beginning to drip down his face that the small blue skeleton tried to wipe away with his hands.
"Why sad, Daddy?" Confused by why he was crying when he was just laughing. The small orange one noticed it too and started tapping his hand on Error's face while saying, "Da!" Error gently grabbed their hands in his, bringing them down as he looked at them.
"No, I'm not sad, Null. I'm crying because I'm so happy right now." He released their hands, bringing them closer for a hug. "We're free! No one will ever hurt us like that ever again!" Null hugged back, tears coming to his eyes as he realized what he was saying while Void squealed with laughter from all this affection he's receiving.
They stay like that before pulling apart, Error wiping away Null's tears this time. He then returned his attention to the codes.
"Now, to make it official." He began to enter in his codes before stopping to realize something. There's probably an Error already living here. I'll need a new name to avoid too much confusion. I should probably go for something similar like… Erratum? Well, it's as good as any, I guess. Quickly he typed his codes in, placing his name down as Erratum Glitch Miscalculation then moving on to the boys, entering them in as his sons through adoption. Then he gave them all a digital paper trail, so it doesn't seem as if they appeared out of thin air despite how vague he made it. Satisfied with his work, he closed the portal to address his new sons.
"Now that I'm done with all that, I think it's time I reintroduced myself to you two. My name is now Erratum Glitch Miscalculation, and you two are my sons Null Misstep Miscalculation and Void Deviation Miscalculation." The sun could not have shown brighter than the smiles on the two boys' faces as they hugged their newly official father. They were so busy rejoicing that it was if they were in their own little world.
That is until.
"Hello? Is anyone there?"

Reader's pov.
I slowed down as I approached the alley's entrance, being careful so I wouldn't hurt myself. Slowly, I entered in, stepping around trash cans and enormous piles of garbage. It was darker despite it being mid-afternoon, deep shadows covering the walls, making the alley look bigger than it really is.
Come on, (Y/N), it's just an alley. It's not like you're suddenly going to get jumped like in movies. Besides, if you are jumped, hit them hard where it hurts, then run. No sweat. I mentally pushed myself forward, forcing myself to hold my head high when I heard children's laughter. Usually, in this type of situation, that would be creepy as heck in a handbasket, but not this time.
This time, the laughter is of joy. As if they finally found happiness, and it's not only one laughing. Three distinct voices can be heard; a baby, a young child, and an older man? Not sure about the last one since it kept changing in tone, almost like a glitching video.
So I decided to make myself known.
"Hello? Is anyone there?"
The laughter stopped. There was a rustling that came from the general area where the laughter came from before, so I stepped forward to peer around the dumpster at the source. That's when I saw them.
Sitting among the garbage was a tall, dark-boned skeleton in a trench coat holding two small, white-boned skeletons wearing either a blue or an orange dress from the 1930s, or something like that. They were sitting in the shadows, so it was hard to see many details. I reached out my hand to help them up, only for them to shrink away from it. I immediately put my hands up in a way to show that I mean no harm.
"It's ok. I'm not going to hurt you. I was just offering to help you up." Despite not seeing that much detail, I could see the disbelief and fear in their eyes. "Yeah, that probably wasn't that convincing. Heh, you probably haven't had the greatest experience with strangers, right? If so, then my name is (Y/N) (Y/L/N), what's yours?" I think it helped because I got an answer.
"3rR4tUm." I was a little surprised by the voice, but I added it with the fear he must be feeling. Everyone deals with situations differently; I just need to stay calm to get him relaxed.
"It's nice to meet you, Erratum. Would you like to come out of the alley to where it's lighter?" I wait for him to nod, albeit hesitantly, before offering my hand again. Even more hesitation came before he finally placed his hand in mine. I could feel each crack and divot in his hand, which is rather disturbing, considering how many there are.
I gingerly held his hand while applying enough force to help him stand up. It was a delicate balance, but I managed to help him stand. That's when I notice how tall he is. Dude, he's like three feet taller than me, at least. I was just hoping that the turmoil going on inside my head wasn't showing on my face.
"Come on, this way." While still holding his hand, I began to make my way through the trash back to the alley's entrance. Slowly but surely, we made our way back into the sunlight. Looking back at him, I finally saw what the shadows hid.
Scars.
More scars than there should be on any living being. So many that it looks as if he'll fall apart at any second.
"How are you not dead yet?" I mumbled aloud, judging from the look on his face as he retracted his hand.
"Sorry! I didn't mean to say that out loud! That was rude for me to say! I'm so sorry!" I probably would have rambled for hours if he didn't chuckle, snapping me out of a potentially endless loop of sorries.
"1t's 0kay. I've ask3d myself thAt questi0n many t1mes b3for3, 1 doubt you'll be the lAst." His voice was very comforting, especially since it began to stabilize. I snapped out of it and changed the subject.
"So how did you wind up in the alleyway? Is there somewhere you're headed?" He seemed hesitant to say, either it's because he's hiding something or because he's unsure of how to say it. I'll assume it's the latter for now.
"We just got in town, and I lost my wallet earlier, so I was looking for it there cause I thought I saw someone throw it into one of the bins. Unfortunately, it's not there. We still need to find a place to stay for the night, so we'll be on our way." I grabbed his arm as he began to walk away.
"I don't think any hotel or motel will let you in looking like that, especially after searching through garbage, whether you have a wallet or not." Not sure if this is the best idea to have, but might as well. "How about you come spend the night at my place. We can get you a bath, something to eat; then tomorrow we can go and replace any documents and stuff that might have been in your wallet." He seemed to be deep in thought. Just when I thought he would say no, a second opinion was given.
"Daddy? I'm hungry." I looked down at the small skeletons in his arms and was met with the two most adorable sights I have ever seen! How did I ever forget they were there! OMG! They are too cute for this world!
"Ok, seriously, how are you not dead yet? I probably would have died hours ago if I was alone with these two cuties!" The little one in blue panicked adorably, not realizing that I was joking.
"No! Don't die, nice lady!" My heart! I'm not sure how much more of this I can take!
"I won't die, I promise! It's just that you two are adorable!" That was able to calm him down, while the baby bones in orange started giggling. It's official! They are the cutest things I have ever seen! Erratum started chuckling at the exchange, drawing my attention back up to him.
"If you wouldn't mind, I think we'll take you up on that offer. Only for the night, of course." My turn to chuckle.
"I did offer it, so of course, I won't mind." I held out my hand again, and he took it with less hesitation than before. I led him back to the car as the thought hit me.
I sure hope Granny's ok with this.
