Megan POV
Monday soon rolls around, and I'm back with my group, waiting for class to start.
It's Julia, Danyelle, Damian, Dean and I like usual, but Cam is here too today.
I lean against the wall, chatting with my friends. Dean is behind me, and I'm pretty sure he's scanning the cafeteria for 'threats'. He's been doing that a lot lately, where whenever we're in a public place together, Dean seems to be half focused on the other people around us. It's not that he's not paying attention to me, it's quite the opposite actually. He's always keeping a protective watch on me, and whenever someone gets physically too close to me, he gives them a death glare until they back off or run away. I'd really hate to see what he would do if someone, especially a guy, touches me.
"Minecraft is so much better than Fortnite." Julia and Cam are arguing over which video game is better.
Honestly, it's kind of hilarious to see Cam get this riled up about something.
"It is not!" Cam protests loudly, glaring at Julia in outrage. "You can do so much more on Fortnite. It's newer and bigger and better and just all around awesome!"
"Minecraft is an original game though. Fortnite doesn't have that original old grandness to it. Also, you can build stuff and kill people." Julia shoots back.
"You can kill people on Fortnite too! That's the entire damn point to the game! You have no idea how many people I've killed!" Cam nearly shouts.
Is it just me, or does Dean seem even more tense now?
"Yeah, leave it to you to be a full out serial killer. The one guy who wouldn't be able to take down so much as a fly in real life." I joke, laughing at his exasperated face.
Cam scowls at me. "I can take on more than a fly! I can take you on, right now." He declares, then steps towards me and lightly punches my arm.
Oh no.
Cam meant it as a joke, and I'm pretty sure Dean is aware of that too, but that doesn't stop his thundering fury from roaring up behind me.
"Don't touch her." Dean snarls down at Cam, who's looking up at him in confusion, surprise, and fear.
Dean wraps his arms around my stomach, and pulls me into his chest, still glaring poisoned flaming daggers at Cam.
"Dean, he meant that as a joke. He didn't actually hurt me." I say, looking up at my boyfriend with concern.
"It doesn't matter. My rule is staying in place." Dean growls, not taking his eyes off Cam.
"What rule?" Julia asks, tilting her head at Dean.
I sigh, then say. "We ran into....trouble a few days ago, and Dean thinks that if no one is allowed to touch me, then I will be safe."
"You will be. As long as I'm here, no one will ever hurt you." Dean says, finally breaking eye contact with Cam.
He looks down at me, and I'm really hoping I'm imagining the evil glint in his eyes.

It's midway through photography, and we're allowed to walk around the school, taking pictures of stuff. We're passing through the cafeteria, when Danyelle stops suddenly, looking over at one of the tables, where there is a lone boy sitting.
"Hey, Mike!" She calls out, then starts parading towards him. Dean and I follow.
Mike looks up from his phone, smiling at Danyelle.
"Hey Danyelle, how are you doing?" He asks politely.
"I'm good. I haven't seen you for a while, so it's nice to finally talk to you again." She replies brightly.
I have no idea who this guy is, but apparently he's a friend of Danyelle's.
"You should come hang out with us! Our group is always over there if you want to join." Danyelle offers, pointing to the spot where we always sit.
"Are you sure that's a good idea? We already have Damian and Cam, we don't need another one." Dean suddenly demands, frowning at Danyelle.
"We can welcome other people in. It's fine." I say, giving Dean a pleading look to stop acting so aggressive towards other people.
Dean transfers his frown over to me, and I'm starting to regret speaking up against him.
"It's fine, I don't mind being alone." Mike suddenly says, cutting through the tension.
I look over at him, who is giving Dean a polite and slightly concerned look.
"Good. Come on, let's go." Dean says coldly, grabbing onto my arm and pulling me away from the cafeteria and into a hallway.
"Why are you being so mean to other people Dean?" I demand, giving my boyfriend a confused and sad look.
"I don't like it when other guys are around you. You are mine, and mine only. No other guys are allowed to be around you." Dean snaps, still frowning at me.
"But they're not going to try anything! They're just friends." I explain.
"I don't care, and I don't trust them. I also don't appreciate Danyelle trying to bring other guys into your group. There's already two too many." Dean says darkly.
"I'm just trying to be friendly." Danyelle says, walking towards us. She glares up at Dean.
"No. You're trying to bring more guys into the group so you can have more choices. You're probably already cheating on Damian, who is a total prick to begin with." Dean growls, giving Danyelle a dark look.
"Damian is not a prick! I would never cheat on him, and he's an amazing boyfriend. I can't say the same for you though." Danyelle snaps, her eyes starting to water.
Dean leans towards her and says quietly.
"Get the fuck out of here before I kill you."
