The Peacekeepers had to hold Peeta back, anger and guilt ran through his body. He tried to claw his way to her body. Finally the Peacekeepers have up and let him go.
She looked just like she had in the cave. She was on the floor, surrounded by a pool of blood. Peeta fell to the floor and held his head in his hands.
She was so pale and stiff. She looked peaceful, beautiful. Peeta wanted to cry desperately, but no tear came.
Why did he say that to her? He didn't hate Katniss.
He loved her.
She's gone, he thought, and I'll never see her again.
Her hair was still neatly in her braid, her bow laid next to her body, still in her hand. Peeta sat up and took the pack off of her.
When he had found her in that store she was looking at something, she put it in her pack.
Peeta had dug around and felt something small and cold. He pulled it out and opened his hand, it was a small dove. A necklace.
He was determined to give it to Prim, that's what Katniss would have wanted, he told himself.
He stood up and the Peacekeepers led him to the hovercraft.
Snow.
He was behind this.
