"Sho?"
Noya began to get worried that Shoyo was out of it again. He was about to call for Yamaguchi when Shoyo looked up at him with teary eyes.
"I-"
Noya looked at him gently while Shoyo pulled his phone out of his pocket. He saw him open the messaging app, so he grabbed his own phone from the bathroom counter.
*Do.... do you know sign language?*
Noya wondered why this question was relevant, but went along with it anyways. He was suddenly grateful that Asahi and he attended the JSL classes at Asahi's church.
*yes, I do*
He looked up to see Shoyo's eyes, sparkling for the first time in a while. He waited for Shoyo to put his phone in his pocket, and watched him begin to form familiar words.
*When did you learn sign language?*
*I took classes with Asahi*
*oh...*
*Shoyo? Why are we using JSL?*
*I... I have selective mutism. It's easier to sign than to talk, and sometimes it's easier than texting, too.*
Noya nodded.
*How are you so good at dressing wounds, senpai?*
Noya smiled sadly, eyes getting watery. Instead of answering, he lifted up the leg of his shorts.
There, Shoyo saw white lines raised against Noya's skin. He gasped a little, and started to cry quietly.
"N-Noya? Are you safe?"
