"Mom?"

Noya stood in shock, eyes wide and skin paled. He began to tremble slightly, hoping that neither his mother nor Shoyo had noticed.

Shoyo, of course, did notice, and he squeezed his senpai's hand just a little tighter. He didn't know what was going on at all, just that Noya was scared of the woman before him for some reason.

"Finally, Yū, it took you long enough," the woman spit, nothing but venom lacing her voice.

Shoyo didn't like her one bit.

"S-sorry mom, practice ran a little late today."

Shouo could feel Noya tensing more as his mother approached the two of them, and was overly observant of the rapid release of his hand as her piercing glare found it's way to the ginger.

"And who is this, Yū? You didn't tell me you were bringing someone over."

Noya panicked even more, eyes somehow getting even wider. He stammered for a moment, trying to come up with any excuse he could for why Shoyo was there, when Shoyo did the worst thing possible.

"What does it matter to you? You're never here anyways."

smack

Noya's eyes shut quickly, tears spilling out. He knew better than to scream out, though every inch of his body was screaming to protect the other boy.

Shoyo grabbed his cheek and glared daggers at the woman before him, wanting nothing more than to hurt her with the force of a thousand storms.

He cringed internally at the thought that passed his mind, though only slightly.

He moved his hand from his cheek and spit right in her face.

"I don't know WHAT the FUCK your problem is, bitch, but Yū is quite obviously scared of you. I can and will call the police if you don't leave, now."

In truth, Shoyo was terrified, knowing full well that this makeshift plan could fail easily, as the house technically belonged to the cunt in front of him.

Noya was frozen solid, eyes wide, unable to even tremble or breathe at the sight before him. He had never seen Shoyo like this, never thought he had it in him, yet here Sho was, protecting Noya with everything he had.

Both boys were shocked when the elder woman huffed, grabbing her purse and threatening to return.

Shoyo ran over to his senpai immediately, cupping his cheeks and asking if he was okay before wrapping him in a tight hug.

"Noya-senpai! Are you okay? Should I call Asahi?"

Noya nodded a little, indicating that he was clearly not okay and that Shoyo needed to call Asahi, as the shorter of the two was on the verge of a horrible panic attack and maybe worse.

And so Sho scrambled for his phone, ripping it out of his pocket and hitting the call button so hard Noya was surprised the force didn't break the phone screen.

He let Shoyo hold him as they sank to the cold kitchen floor, the younger of the two rocking him gently and making shushing sounds while they waited for Asahi to arrive.

Eventually not only Asahi showed up, but also Daichi and Sugawara. Noya was silently thankful for the moment Shoyo had mentioned his mother, because that meant all three of his senpais would be coming.

Suga set to work immediately, making the tea that calmed Noya the fastest. Daichi pulled Shoyo to the side to speak with him, eyes widening as he recounted the story and crinkling with pride when he mentioned his defense.

Daichi scooped Sho into his arms, surprising the first year a little, but he soon returned the warm embrace.

Asahi immediately ran for Noya, almost effortlessly scooping him into his arms and carrying him to the living room where he sat on his favourite recliner, rocking the two of them steadily.

After a quiet chorus of shh, you're okay, I promise from the elder, Noya finally calmed down enough to release the vice grip he had on Asahi's shirt.

Daichi and Shoyo returned with Suga, carrying enough tea for all of them. Noya nodded to Suga, lips unable to form any words.

Suga just looked at him and smiled gently, recalling the way Noya had acted the last time his mother was around.

Daichi mentioned something about police not doing their fucking jobs properly, earning murmurs of agreement from the other four.

The tea was calming enough that all five of them fell asleep, with Noya and Asahi occupying the master bed, and the other three in Shoyo's.

It was almost as if Shoyo had a nightmare and crawled into his parent's bed, and Asahi cooed at the sight the next morning before snapping a quick picture.

"Hey, mom, dad, it's time for breakfast! You too, Sho!"

The three got up rather quickly, each embarrassed for a different reason after being caught in that position, unaware that Asahi had already sent the picture to the groupchat.

When Suga pulled out his phone at the table, ignoring the sigh of disappointment from Daichi, he looked up and glared at the one with a man bun, who wore a smug expression.

"Azumane..."

But this time Asahi didn't budge, didn't show any sign of fear or regret even as the others pulled out their phone. In fact, the smirk on his face only deepened as he heard Noya giggle at his side, getting louder and more desperate for air by the second.

Look everyone, they had family bonding time. Mom and Dad look so peaceful with their baby.

Shoyo was blushing furiously, annoyed with the photo and caption. But the responses from two specific teammates made his blush deepen.

Aw, Sho looks so cute!! -Yama

Tch, let him sleep. He actually looks peaceful for once. -Tsukki

Both Suga and Noya looked at Shoyo with a knowing look, Suga having also figured the blush wasn't purely reserved for the ginger's frustration.

Noya glanced at Suga quickly and the elder of the two winked before Daichi cleared his throat, announcing they had to leave soon for fear of being late.

Asahi quickly washed the dishes as Noya prepped bentos, which he hadn't done the previous night for obvious reasons.

The five of them headed off to school in a comfortable fashion, Suga teasing each of them over various things the whole way there.
