Bonnie joined Stiles and Scott in the Jeep. Her heart sinking at the thought of leaving Theo alone with a dead body. Especially Josh's dead body. Mixed feelings were flooding through her about Josh's death. She pushed the thoughts from her mind before she could become too caught up in it all.
"It's Hayden." Scott said, "Liam has her at his house now."
"How does he know she's a chimera?" Bonnie asked, wondering why Scott even asked her to come. How could she help?
"I'm not sure," Scott sighed, "I guess we'll have to ask when we get there. But if she is a chimera we'll have to protect her so that the Dread Doctors don't kill her like they killed Josh."
Stiles' eyes flicked up to meet Bonnie's in the rear view mirror, his facial expressions impossible to read. They held each others gaze for a few seconds before Bonnie looked away. "How do you suppose we protect her?"
"I don't know Stiles, I don't have all the answers." Scott replied quickly, turning to his best friend. "But we'll figure it out, like we always do."
Once they had arrived at Liam's house they all walked in.
"Liam?" Scott called.
"Upstairs!" He shouted back, and Scott made his way over to the staircase, Bonnie and Stiles followed.
"Hey, does Lydia even know where you are?" Stiles asked quietly while they were walking up the stairs.
"Yeah, I text her on the way here." Bonnie answered, her nerves suddenly kicking in, wondering what they were going to find upstairs. Another scorpion? Or another kanima?
Much to Bonnie's surprise when they entered Liam's bedroom, Hayden wasn't anywhere to be seen.
"Where is she?" Scott asked. Liam pointed to a closed door, his shoulders slumping.
Scott licked his lips and stepped forward to knock on the door gently.
"Hayden? It's Scott." He paused for a moment as the others shuffled uncomfortably in anticipation. "I know that you're scared, but we just... We wanna help."
When she didn't answer, Scott turned to face Liam.
"I can hear her heart beating," He said quietly, "She's really freaked out. What happened?"
"She was okay when she got here. I went to text you for two seconds and she locked herself in." Liam explained, his head shaking in confusion.
"Why?" Stiles asked.
"I don't know." Liam shrugged.
"She's definitely a chimera?" Scott asked.
"She said she heard a voice saying, "Your condition improves." Liam informed them.
"Okay, that's unsettling." Stiles nodded.
"Yeah, no wonder she's freaked out." Bonnie added, feeling sorry for Hayden. She thought about how much all of this freaked her out, without even being involved like Hayden was.
Stiles stepped forward abruptly, knocking on the door. "Hayden? This is Stiles. Your sister works with my dad down at the station. Look, just open the door, okay? You can trust us."
Stiles stepped back, wiping his face with his hand in frustration when there was no answer. Scott turned to Bonnie, making her scrunch up her face and shrug her shoulders. Scott nodded to the door and Bonnie let out a breath as she stepped forward.
"Hayden, this is Bonnie. You've probably seen me around school, or at least heard about me. We want to help you. I know you're freaked out," Bonnie began, placing her hand against the door as her voice became soft. "To be honest, we are too. The only way to get through this together, please let us help you."
