"Y/n Roway! Get down here now, you don't want to be late!" y/n rolled out of bed once she heard her mother yell from down the stairs. She rubbed her puffy eyes as she looked at the clock to see that she had enough time to fully ready. She sleepily walked over to her vanity to brush her hair so she could leave it down without it getting too frizzy. Her hands were shaking with excitement as she ran the brush through her hair. She hadn't been able to get much sleep last night as she was so anxious to start her first year at Hogwarts. She had been looking forward to this day for as long as her brain could comprehend what Hogwarts was.

She stumbled over to her closet to get the navy blue velvet dress that her mom had picked out for her to wear. She slipped the dress over her head and it hit just below her knees, making a little breeze as it did so. She then slipped on her shiny black flats that her mom had also picked out for her.

"Oh wonderful, you're ready," her father smiled at her as he came into the room. "Have you got your trunk packed?"

"Yes dad, remember, we packed it last night."

"Yes yes I remember I was just making sure you didn't go through it last night out of excitement." He looked around the room until his eyes landed on a grey owl. "It looks like Heather is ready too."

"Is it time already?" y/n asked excitedly as she hurried over to her owl, Heather.

"Yes dear, come, let's go downstairs, your mother is waiting." y/n walked out of her room carrying Heather and her father followed closely behind, her trunk in his hand.

"Ah there you guys are, come come, let's get into the car." All three of them happily hopped in the car, ready to drive through London to the station. The Roway's house was on the outskirts of London because it was so big. Y/n came from a wealthy and very famous wizarding family. It often got lonely at her house because she was an only child and her friends weren't allowed to come over because they were muggles. She had told them that she was going to a boarding school and tried to distance herself from them. Y/n looked out at the scenery on the drive through London. She loved how mesmerizing it was but she couldn't wait until they arrived at the station.

They pulled into the parking lot of the station and y/n had never been more excited before in her life. She grabbed Heather and practically ran towards the platform, her mother struggling to keep up.
"Y/n wait! Your father has your stuff and we need to get you a trolley!"

"Sorry mum," y/n sighed as she waited for her parents to catch up. Her father went to get a trolley and loaded everything up for her, and to her distaste, that included Heather.

"Ready to go y/n?" y/n nodded to her mother as she ran towards the brick wall between platforms 9 and 10.

"Well, Platform 9 ¾, I don't know what you expected," y/n heard her father say but she was in her own world, entranced by the platform she was on.

"Oh we'll miss you dearly y/n," her mother said to y/n, tears brimming her eyes.

"Don't worry mum, I'll write as often as I can."

"Stay safe y/n," her father said, pulling her into a hug.

"You better go get a seat on the train before all the good ones are gone," her mother sighed, pulling her into another hug and kissing her on her cheek. "I love you y/n."

"I love you too mum," y/n smiled at her mother "You too dad."

"I love you darling, now go make me and your mum proud," he smiled softly as he patted her back, the signal that it was time for her to board the train.
