Troy
He carried her in and told me to get my blankets. I was terrified, Lacy had a huge gash in her forehead and it was gushing blood. I did as he said, well I tried my body doesn't exactly do what I tell it but when I saw Lacy's blood soaked blonde hair I was in control. He laid her down and pulled out a red sac from his black, worn duffle bag and opened a bottle of something that smelled really bad. I handed him the woollen blankets and he wrapped her up. He looked at me with worried grey eyes and told me to hold her hand. He showed me how to gently rub it and he got back to work.
I looked down at her dry, pasty hands and studied her blue veins. They reminded me of the picture she drew before the thing happened. When Aunt Harriet took us to the small damp forest behind her house for spring break. The five pale blue streams that intercepted throughout the trees and bushes. The soft bubbling of the gentle water against the soft, smooth stones. The fresh, spring tang of the woods and berries filled my head with dizzy colours. ahhhh.
I get wrapped up in my own world all the time and I actually like it. The real world is scary and cold and dark and vile. They say i'm sick or mentally challenged but they are the ones that are. Lacy is the only one that gets me. She knows how to calm me down and throughout everything she's been there and cared for me unconditionally. But I will never get to tell her how much I love her. I owe her my life.
I heard my name and I snapped out of my thoughts.
"Troy..." I felt her head turn towards me but I couldn't look up at her because of the open bloody, flesh.
Then she did something I didn't expect and I started to panic. She had a shinny metal blade and I grabbed it creating a small gash on my palm. I pulled myself into a ball and swayed violently. I shut my eyes tight and waited for her to touch my arm but she didn't.
My mind was spinning and twirling and I fell back into my world.
