Weeks later

Sabine opened the last crate that Hera left that had her personal items. It had only been a couple days since they had liberated Lothal, and she was beginning to miss Ezra. His words still echoed in her mine: I know I can always count on you. She still had no clue what for. If she had the Force, she would have tried to contact him through her mind. She eventually came across an item she didn't recognize. It looked like a recording device, but it looked ancient. She pressed play and a voice came out that she recognized. The voice of Ezra.

"Hey, Sabine," the recording played. He sounded sad, "if you're hearing this, then something has either happened to me, or you stumbled across this by chance. We've had a crazy adventure here, haven't we? Odds are you won't know what I'm talking about, because in a couple minutes we're going to forget that this adventure ever happened. But if I had the choice, I wouldn't want to forget this for the world."

Sabine was confused. This all sounded strangely familiar, but she couldn't recall anything.

"This mission changed all of us in one way or another." Ezra continued, "well, maybe not Zeb or Chopper, but definitely us. You don't remember, but we... we... had a relationship closer than what we had before. I probably didn't get the chance to tell you again, so if you did stumble across this, this might be embarrassing. But if I'm gone somehow, I just wanted you to know: I've always thought of you as more than just a friend. Even though we won't remember our time, there is no one that I'd have liked to spend my life with than you. Sabine, I truly do love you. I hope that after this is all over, we can be together again."

Sabine was taken aback by the end. She felt a tear stream down her face. She walked to the outer railing and held the recorder to her chest. She closed her eyes and found herself in a forest by a fire next to Ezra. She was resting her head on his shoulder. Words echoed in her mind. Words she and Ezra said: there is a third option. Which is? You.

She felt more tears stream down her face. She smiled and spoke only one sentence.

"I will keep your home safe until you return, Cyra'ika."
