It has been a few weeks since we went to see Grace and honestly, I am beginning to really worry about her. Every day I hope she will wake up, but she hasn't yet. Poor Max. He seems to be losing hope and I can't do anything to make it better.
Max has been to visit Grace a few times, but I think he is struggling even more every time he goes in to visit. It's so hard for him. I truly hope Grace gets better soon.
The nurses and doctors here have been leaving Max alone and as a result they have been leaving me alone. Max is currently away seeing Grace and I just keep waiting for him to come back. I like to hear him talk about what he had said to Grace that day. It distracted him for a little while. It was nice to hear him talk about Grace as it always made him smile as he loved her. Plus seeing him happy even for a little while made me happy.
A few hours pass when finally, Max comes back a smile on his face.
"She is awake!" He almost screamed as he walked in. "She is awake!" I couldn't be happier. She was okay! She had woken up and she was okay! "They said they are going to keep her in for a few days, but she will be home soon as long as she continues to get better.
A week or so later
The door opens I assume that Max is back from the hospital. I have been a few times this week, but I thought today would be better for them if I stayed here. So, they could have some family time.
I was wrong.
In walks Grace, on crutches, followed by Max and their mum.
"Grace!" I say as I get up and run towards her and wrapping my arms around her. "How are you feeling?" I say very quickly. Grace looks at me for a minute, I think trying to figure out what I said, then smiles.
"I feel okay, a bit tired but I am going home now to rest for a few days but then I will be back here working and will spend as much time with you both as possible." She laughs making Max and I smile. I feel like she has only been there for five minutes when she had to go home. The nurses allow us to go to the door to see Grace and her mum out.
As Max and I head back to our room I can see the skip in his step as he walks slightly ahead of me. He turns to look at me and the smile on his face wasn't just on his lips but also there in his eyes. It was nice to see the old happy, fun Max back.
