New York City. The City that never sleeps. The Big Apple. Mm. Apples. You could go for an apple right about now. When was the last time you ate again? Oh. Sorry. Getting sidetracked before the story even starts. Anyhow, New York City. The only home you've ever known. All your life you've been trapped in the endless maze of tall buildings. You've seen it all. Homeless, thugs, rats robbing people. Honestly the last one is a tad bit more impressive than the other two.
You groaned as your alarm pulled you from the best damn dream you've ever had. You slapped the clock from your nightstand and heard it hit the floor. You sat up immediately and winced.
Y/N: That sounds bad.
You peeked over the bed and saw the broken clock and sighed.
Y/N: Another one bites the dust.
You got out of bed and kicked the broken clock under your bed along with the others. You yawned and decided to get your day started.
You changed into your normal clothes before you left your bedroom and started to head down stairs.
Victor: Y/N?
You froze at your father's voice and looked over to see him sitting at the kitchen table with his glasses and newspaper. He was eyeing you.
Victor: Did I hear another broken clock?
Y/N: Uh, no?
Victor looked at you for a moment before he grunted. You sighed as you took your seat at the table. Suddenly, there was a plate of breakfast in front of you. You looked up and smiled.
Y/N: Thanks mom.
Elise: No problem hun. Now eat up. You don't want to be late on your first day.
Oh yeah. Today was your first day at Visions Academy.
Victor: Hopefully you stay out of fights. Xavier is still sending me emails.
You awkwardly laughed as you remembered your last school. Xavier's School for the Gifted Youth.
Y/N: That kid was picking on...
Victor: No, fighting.
You just sighed.
Y/N: Yes sir.
Your mom laughed as she placed a plate in front of Victor and kissed his cheek.
Elise: You were much worse when you his age. You always picked fights at the orphanage.
Victor: Because back then you needed to. This boy has the world in his hands and he should be better than I was.
Y/N: I mean, I beat you in monopoly every time we play so...
Victor: A better person, smart-ass. You're smart. Use that.
Elise: Your father is right, you know. Do you really want to end up like your uncle?
Y/N: Uncle Ven? What's wrong with him?
Victor: He was arrested for robbing a strip club.
You looked at his newspaper and sure enough, on the front page was a black and white photo of your favorite uncle Ven.
Y/N: Huh. Sounds like something he would do.
You ate your food when your phone vibrated. You pulled it out and saw that it was your second favorite uncle, Marc.
Marc- Have a good first day at school. Maybe blow something up to assert dominance.
You laughed at the text and sent back a quick thank you. You went back to eating before your mom joined you. Before long, the back door opened and another figure in your life stepped in.
