"Are you sure you're going to be okay alone?" Asked Sasuke as he followed the blonde into the Hyuga household. Naruto rolled his eyes, "Teme, I'll be fine. It's not like I'm going to deliver them today." He looked into the content of the fridge, trying to decide what ingredients to use for the sandwiches he was about to make. "I'm capable of staying by myself, you know." Emphasizing with a hint of sarcasm while reaching into the cold box for the leftover turkey meat that he had prepared the other day and setting it on the counter top. He gathered the other ingredients that he was going to use before closing the door.
Sasuke watched intently from where he was sitting at the spot at the island as the blonde worked at making two sandwiches, adding extra tomatoes to one of them. After he cut them in half, he retrieved two plates and a small container of seasoning from the cupboard.
"Neji might be an idiot to leave the country while you're pregnant, but he isn't stupid enough to leave you by yourself." The paler stated with a raised eyebrow. "You're parents are coming over aren't they?"
Narrowing his eyes at the smirking raven as he slid a plate in front of him, "You know what you are sometimes?"
"I know, the insufferable best friend." The older chortled knowing he was pushing the pregnant blonde's buttons whenever Naruto glared at him some more. Pouring a glass of milk and opening a bag of chips to stuff them into his own sandwich. "Yeah. Whatever." He retorted, clutching the back of the chair with one hand and his other under his belly for support as he sat on the tall seat.
Sasuke loved the way Naruto made sandwiches, actually food in general. He remembered how his sunshine would make bento boxes for both of them in school; he was always making food for him. It was one of the many things he missed about him. "Thanks for lunch." He smiled gratefully. Naruto nodded with a closed grin whilst chewing some of his sandwich. They ate in silence until Naruto finished the last crumbs. "Pbbbbht." He sighed a little sadly.
"What?" Sasuke asked curiously due to the sound coming from the other.
"Nothing. It's just that I think melted chocolate would of tied that sandwich together with a hint of peanut butter and cheese."
It took all he could not to cover his mouth in disgust as the combination and a vision popped into his head of Naruto actually eating it; finding it hard to stomach even the slightest idea of it. "I'll take your word for it." He said with a slight cringe.
Naruto placed one hand on the marble top whilst the other on the back of the chair, huffing as he tried to hoist himself up, allowing the raven to help him along the way. He reached out to take his friend's plate only to be stopped from doing so. "I'll take care of this. You go rest on the couch and I'll join you when I finish here." The latter was quick to jump up from his chair to clean up.
"Are you sure? I mean I don't mind-"
"Naru please. Go. It's the least I can do." His tone a bit scolding.
Scoffing at being told what to do, "Okay then. Gonna use the bathroom first," he announced walking slowly out of the kitchen and towards the bedroom.
By the time he had finished in the restroom and walked into the living room, Sasuke was sitting on the sofa, changing the channels on the television.
"Well that was fast." Naruto said strolling over to the sofa, placing his hand on the back of the couch and the other on the Uchiha's shoulder for support as he slowly lowered himself into a sitting position beside the raven. "It was only a handful of dishes." Sasuke said dryly.
The blonde sucked his teeth and leaned his back deep into the cushion in a slight wince, after receiving a harsh nudge to his kidney, causing him to rub the area vigorously.
