Chapter 18

"Are you really going to stay here?" Yi Chen asked Bao Yu when he walked her home.

"Yes, I know Bai Ling spoke those words because he thought I betrayed him. You know right that he is a good guy" Bao Yu said to him, "I don't want to leave Papa Ning or Papa Qing"

Yi Chen sighed and stopped asking her to stay with him. After dropping her home he left.

When the trio saw Bao Yu entering the house they were obediently sat on the couch. During the dinner time no one dared to speak a word. Even Papa Ning and Papa Qing felt something was wrong with the kids.

After eating the dinner Bao Yu went to the front yard to get some fresh air. Ning Xuan took a vannila ice cream box with her and sat next to Bao Yu, "Here take it"

Bao Yu didn't had a time to reject her because Ning Xuan scooped a spoon and feed it to Bao Yu. She silently ate the ice cream without saying anything.

Qing Ze slowly sat next to Bao Yu, "Do you like it?". Bao Yu nodded her head.

Ning Xuan heart melted by seeing Bao Yu. She knows that Bao Yu didn't talk that much with them or shared how she was actually feeling.

"Are you still angry?" Ning Xuan asked her caressing her hair. Bao Yu shook her head.

"We're sorry. We were so shocked to respond that lead you to misunderstand us" Qing Ze said to her.

"It's okay. I'm sorry I shouldn't have shouted at you like that" Bao Yu fiddled with her fingers. Ning Xuan clasped her finger, "It's okay, it's all because you were startled because of Bai Ling"

Bao Yu gave her a weak smile.

"Don't take his words to your heart. It's because he was scared to be separated from us. He also don't want to hurt us do he decided to hide it from us" Qing Ze tried to speak on behalf of Bai Ling who was hiding behind the bushes.

"Yeah, I understand. So ask him to come out" Bao Yu looked at the bushes where Bai Ling was hiding. Hearing her, BaiLing stumbled down.

Ning Xuan slapped her forehead, "You can't even hide yourself properly"

Qing Ze helped Bai Ling to stand properly and whispered in Bai Ling's ear to apologise to Bao Yu.

Bai Ling stood in front of Bao Yu, "I'm sorry. I overreacted"

Bao Yu felt urge to cry but pinched herself to not to shed tears in front of them, "It's okay. Whoever in your place could have done the same. Let's drop this" She gave a forced smile to him.

Whatever he said it hurts Bao Yu to death. But she can't be childish and petty. After all her soul was twenty seven and she lived longer than these three. As an elder she should forgive the younger.

Bai Ling sighed in relief when he heard her. He was really angry at himself for behaving rudely to her. If not for Qing Ze and Ning Xuan telling him the truth, he might have been still angry at Bao Yu. He felt ashamed of himself for behaving like that with Bao Yu.

The trio was really scared what if Bao Yu decided to leave them and started living with Yi Chen's parents. They can't even able to imagine the girl who was their family leaving them.

"Okay. Let's do this. We can move on" Ning Xuan clapped her hands in excitement.

"What you forgave them?" Yi Chen was blown over when he heard Bao Yu.

This morning the trio dropped Bao Yu to the restaurant and that was seen by Yi Chen and Zhan Fang. So they questioned her. Bao Yu told them what happened yesterday night.

"Are you insane? Did you forgot how badly he treated you?" Zhan Fang shook her. Bao Yu held Zhan Fang's hand, "I didn't forget. But I just can't make them sad for not letting it go. I know they were hurt for treating me like that. So I decided to leave this"

"Then what about you? Or Are you not sad? Or Are you not hurt?" Yi Chen asked her.

Bao Yu bit her lips, "It doesn't matter"

Yi Chen was annoyed, "Bao Yu, I really can't understand. Why do you have to hurt yourself like this? My mom already told that you can stay here with us. But you're insisted to stay with Papa Ning and Papa Qing saying you don't want to hurt them. I really don't understand why they have to get hurt if you leave them? What if your real family take you back, then won't they get hurt? You're just staying there for around eight months. I agree they might have been attached to you. But is it worth for you to keep on getting hurt? How long do you want to live like this? Or are you already planning to live your life like this for your rest of the life?"

Bao Yu looked down in silence. "Yi Chen, stop it" Zhan Fang tried to calm him.

"Zhan Fang, you don't know how much she has been through at this young age. I'm telling all this for her own good. But she's adamant about it" Yi Chen grabbed his hair in frustration.

Zhan Fang looked at Bao Yu who kept her head down. Zhan Fang don't know what to speak or whom to comfort. She was in the middle looking at the pitiful Bao Yu and raging Yi Chen.

Seeing her being quiet, Yi Chen was really annoyed, "Do whatever you want. I don't care about you anymore" when was about to leave, his hand was grabbed by Bao Yu.

He wanted to yank her hand but stopped when she said, "Y-Yi Chen, don't a-abandon m-me. You're the f-first f-friend I got here. P-pease, don't l-leave me"

Both Yi Chen and Zhan Fang startled by seeing tearful Bao Yu. As for Zhan Fang  this was the first time seeing her crying so weakly. Now they know this vulnerable girl in front of them was really a sixteen year old girl.

Yi Chen hurriedly wiped her tears, "I'm not leaving you. Sorry, I shouldn't have shouted at you. Sorry"

He pulled her into hug, cursing himself for shouting at her when he know about her situation.

His hug made her to cry aloud scaring Zhan Fang. Yi Chen patted her back as he said again and again that he was not abandoning her or angry with her.

After sometimes Bao Yu was calmed herself, "Every household kids have fought with each other. The same things happened here as well. They were with me when I was lost. They sheltered me when I was nowhere to go. I can't just leave them just because I was unhappy. Doesn't make me ungrateful?"

Yi Chen felt what she said somewhat reasonable.

"You can do whatever you wanted to do. We will be with you" Zhan Fang said to her and nudged Yi Chen.

"As your first best friend I have the responsibility to stand with you and take care of you forever" Yi Chen wiped the remaining tears from Bao Yu's cheeks.

"As your second best friend I will also take care of you forever" Zhan Fang hugged Bao Yu and soon Yi Chen joined their hug.

Bao Yu didn't know that they promised themselves to protect her and make her happy forever.
