After our football team is announced and the game starts I feel better. The nerves have calmed. Brady is here, but he's playing football. He's not going to do anything, he can't. Even if he could I really hope he doesn't. I wish I knew how Max was feeling about all of this. It can't be easy to look at Brady knowing how he feels about me. If I were Max and I had to stare his ex who openly still had feelings for him in the eye I wouldn't like it at all. Max seems so smooth though, if it does bother him, he doesn't show it. Max walks off the field to get some water. "Looking good Ken." He calls. I turn around and wave him off. The girls start laughing. "I'd do anything to have a Max." Lexi says. I smile. I really am lucky to have him.

It's halftime and the homecoming court is lining up on the field. Noel and I are standing together waiting for Luke and Max to come back to the field. They go to the locker room and have a quick discussion while the band performs. "Did I see Brady wave at you earlier?" Noel asks. "Yeah." I say. I feel so small. I don't know how to explain it, I'm almost embarrassed of it. He literally cheated on me at prom and publicly humiliated me, and now I'm waving to him at a football game. "What's the deal there? Are you guys like friends now?" She seems to be genuinely asking, she doesn't have the judgmental tone in her voice she sometimes has. "I honestly don't know, how could I be friends with him right? I want to still be mad at him, but I just can't bring myself to be angry anymore. I feel bad for him." Noel nods. "I know what you mean. I just don't want you to lose sight of what you and Max have because of Brady." I feel a knot form in my stomach. Max and Luke jog across the field to us. "You're doing awesome." I say giving Max a hug. His entire body is damp with sweat. He has on a headband to control his long wet hair. "Thanks babe." He says kissing me on the top of the head. "I see Brady is here." He whispers in my ear. "Yeah, I'm surprised." I whisper. I don't want to talk about this with him right now. We have to walk on the field in front of the entire town. I don't want to be any more frazzled then I already am. "Maybe he's getting the help he needs." Max says. I shrug my shoulders. The North West team jogs back on the field. They line up on the side. "Alright ladies and gentlemen we have some homecoming activities to attend to, lets go ahead and get started." The announcer booms from the press box. He starts announcing each couple. They stop and take their places just like we did in the gym at the pep rally. When Max and I are announced we walk out onto the field and stand beside Noel and Luke. Max and I are both trying to contain our smiles. I look into the crowd. I cheer in front of this crowd every Friday, but being on the field, under the bright lights, it feels different. It's honestly pretty scary. I start feeling my pulse quicken. I start breathing really hard. I grasp Max's arm. "I don't feel to good." I say. He looks over at me concerned. "Are you okay?" He asks. I shake my head no. I feel like I'm going to pass out. I've passed out before from giving blood, and it felt just like this. "Okay, what do you need me to do?" He asks. I look around panicking. I can not make a scene in the middle of the football field. "Just stand here with me, hopefully they will be done soon." My mouth starts getting dry and my hands are shaking. Even if they do announce the winner soon I don't know if my legs will carry me off the field. "Okay, I'm right here, it will be okay." He says rubbing my hand. "Just close your eyes and count to ten." He whispers in my ear. I know all eyes are on me, but I have got to do something. I close my eyes and start counting. When I close my eyes it's like the room is spinning around me. When I open my eyes I feel off-balance. "The junior homecoming King and Queen are" The announcer booms. I grab my stomach. "Princess Noel and Prince Luke" The field erupts in cheers. I feel some comfort knowing the attention is off me. Beads of sweat start running down my face. Max moves his hand around my waist. I can see the concern on his face. The homecoming court starts walking off the field so the senior court has all the attention. Max firmly grabs my waist. "Do you think you can walk?" He asks, I see his eyes darting back and forth. "Yes." I choke. I plaster a smile to my face as Max helps walk me off the field. As soon as I get to the track everything goes black.
